The Perfect Bangkok Afternoon?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

What is your version of the perfect afternoon in Bangkok?

Is it a workout at the gym followed by a protein drink from 7-11?

Lunch at The Oriental Hotel?

A Thai oil massage followed by a happy ending?

A trip to a crowded shopping mall and a wander around aimlessly buying stuff you don't need?

A couple of Guinness at the pub followed by a short-time?

A hot-pot lunch followed by an afternoon film in the theater?

A boat ride on the river from Taksin Bridge up to the Grand Palace?

A wander around the bustling fresh markets in China Town?

Surfing the net and reading annoying posts on AN like this one?

A run around Lumpini Park followed by some good street food along the backside of the park?

A trip to the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)?

Stocking up on supplies at Lotus, Big-C or Makro?

A visit to Kinokunia Book store followed by a good cup of coffee?

Buying a bunch of fruit at Or Tor Kor Market?

A fat spliff, followed by 3 chocolate bars, then contemplating your navel for hours and never leaving your bed?

Or something completely different?

Sitting in one of the bars over looking Sukhumvit Rd, drinking a cold beer and watching the world go by

My perfect afternoon in Bangkok is boarding an aircraft to leave it.

My perfect afternoon in Bangkok is getting onto the motorway and heading back to Chonburi.

i saw you the other day. i was the guy dressed like somchai on my click.

Our boy's got older now, with a girlfriend, so he s occupied. Which leave s the wife and myself. We ve started having date days. A movie, an italian meal or just a walk in the park. But it s been lovely. Last Saturday - a bottle of red, a spliff and some slow jazz. Beautiful!

You should have pulled over, stopped for a beer.

My shout 🍺

For sure not sitting in a bar!

My perfect afternoon?

The wife is called away on urgent business and tells me she will be away until later that evening at the earliest.

After a nice brunch with my b/f at Asoke Terminal 21 followed by a double espresso at Starbucks, then a bit of a walk - perhaps round Benjakitti Park if we haven't already done it earlier, any shopping, then back to the hotel for a swim & a snooze, then check the emails etc, then prepare for a nice dinner (Thai? Italian? Monsoon for good Western? mmm we'll do all 3 during our stay).

8 happy hour priced beers and a short time followed by a chicken kebab.

Don't think I would get that past the Mrs. though - she doesn't like me eating chicken.

Chicken in Thai is slang for a sex worker. Is that what you meant about eating chicken?

Compromise is the key to long lasting relationships.

Berlin Doner Kebab make a fantastic beef kebab wrap.

"A hot-pot lunch followed by an afternoon film in the theater?" Why should anyone want to go to the theatre "cinema" to watch a movie when you can have all the equipment you need at home and watch the movies at your leisure? There are various sourses for watching any movies you fancy, ie Netflix or all the downloads you want.

4K Thailand 🇹🇭 Scenic drive Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Hua Hin

A perfect example of bad Thai driving, why can't

the water bottle truck not stay in the nearside lane?

My perfect Bangkok afternoons start at 9am. An hour on the Playstation, an hour at the gym, off to the pub for a steak and chips or a roast, washed down with a few cold ones, then a massage and back home to watch Netflix.

I absolutely love Bangkok. 16 years now and can't imagine being based anywhere else.

There use to be a Tony Roma's on the second floor of a building that was situated between Sukhumvit Soi 3/1 and Soi 5. I'd get a window seat in their little bar and look out on all the goingons just below my feet and across the street, but I liked their long island ice teas.

That’s the Nai Lert Building.

About in this order:

Lunch at The Oriental Hotel?

A Thai oil massage followed by a happy ending?

A visit to Kinokunia Book store followed by a good cup of coffee?

A late lunch early dinner at the outside restaurant at Siam Paragon, the buffet at Goji restaurant Marriot Marquise, or just a nice dinner evening either at Kai New Zealand Silom or No Idea Sukhumvit with my wife of course.

Also enjoy a few beers with a few friends at  an Irish pub is great after a month up at the farm.

If I was single, I would had done an oil massage before going out, just to ease the pressure. Helps to not do stupid things I might regret.

Nice. For guys like you I probably should also have a long-time option for a 3rd round in the evening.
