Best way to kill cockroaches in the kitchen - if possible, not spray.

Just bought a can of SC Johnson Co's BayGonne.

Yes, it kills them, dead!

 

The thing is, I have never had cockroaches inside my rooms/houses before.

 

This year, I have seen quite a few at night, outside, on the lawn.

 

Then, at night, these cockroaches seem to come into the kitchen, under the door, but they do not enter the house.

The kitchen is attached to the house, but there is a door separating house/kitchen.

 

I plan to get the termite exterminator out here, and treat the OUTSIDE of the house, for termites.

It's my thinking that this will solve all problems with ants/roaches, etc.

Year ago, in another apartment, I looked on the internet for solutions. I found a couple of suggested solutions, but none of them worked.

Then I discovered Blattanex Gel, see above, which worked great.

But it seems by now the (Thai) cockroaches are mostly immune against it. 

 

I use Chaindrite Stedfast - it's sold as a concentrated insecticide for termite treatment, but it's also good for cockroaches. Available from Thaiwatsadu, Homepro etc.  Need a pressure sprayer, mask, goggles .... don't spray near food.  Spray around the edges of rooms, under fittings, into extract fan ducts, down service ducts, bin stores etc, do not mop floor for a few days.  Spray again after a couple of weeks to kill the newly hatched nymphs.

 

It has a residual effect, so it works for a few weeks after spraying.  

 

I also put it down the drains around the house and Spray the entrance steps etc.

 

You'll see the dead roaches the next morning.

The number of cockroaches in my place correlates with the cleanliness of my kitchen.

I once used OP's gel, I was not impressed.

I always put cockroach traps from BigC in kitchen and bathroom, mostly the round ones.

If the kitchen is very clean for weeks on end, the cockroaches disappear. Some are in the traps.

I've had a similar problem with cockroaches, and here's what’s worked for me. I used to rely on Blattanex Gel, but over time, its effectiveness dropped. Lately, I’ve been using a combo of bait stations and gel. The bait stations are great for putting in corners and behind appliances where it's tough to reach, and the cockroaches take the poison back to their nests. For the gel, I’ve switched to a different brand, and it’s made a difference. I also make sure to clean up and seal any gaps where they might be getting in.

Wood Roach, Palmetto Roach;  
Cockroach Hotels, Bayer gel, Boric Acid (powder) mixed with fine sugar (NOT Borax).  
Done deal, keep it up for 6+ months. Works.  
The Boric Acid mix also good for ants, but some like sugar others protein (PNut Butter).  
Info on the web for ratios, is important!

It took me a month to get rid of them in my gf kitchen.

She from Isan and didn't see roaches a problem... To me they were disgusting.

In the morning some were on their back (eating too much?) and she didn't let me to kill them.

"They may be ex-HUMANS!" she said. Yes, Thais believe so. She tenderly carried them out and let go...

 

I sealed all wall crack, door, windows, and sewage. That was the most likely way to get in. Thailand drains don't have water traps! The pipe goes straight out to main sewage. Mosquitos come same too.

 

As many already said they come after food and water. To eliminate food source they leave. 100% cleanliness is important.

Commenting on Kitchen Kockroaches, besides the poison I mentioned earlier:

 

If I do not want to spray, then here is how I do:

 

I wait for one large cockroach.

I kill it with a shoe.

Then, I just leave the cockroach carcass on the kitchen floor,

As a warning to others in his group.

 

 

The cockroach, once dead, remains where I left him,

For about a week with little activity.

Then, gradually, the tiny ants will begin to congregate around

And they will dismantle and carry away his remains.

 

This seems to have greatly reduced the numbers of cockroaches entering my kitchen from outside, in recent weeks.

I will still need to call an ant exterminator, in the near future, but only to spray outside the house.

 

One thing that I have noticed:

 

Cockroaches do not seem to be cannibalistic.

I will give them that, at least.

I've done that in many hotel rooms; kill "scout ants" and leave there.

Ants are very smart, they don't come to the same place when they find some pals dead...

And, this was also done in Vietnam...

 

When roaches become immune to some poisons..then....

 

We just gotta resort to PsyOps....
