A vote for Trump is a vote for Putin / Orban / Kim Jong Un
So a spinning teapot orbiting the Sun between the Earth and Mars is real until I can present evidence to prove it doesn't exist? Strange logic. -

Nattawut Praises Srettha for Championing Marriage Equality
I am waiting to see how this will affect laws concerning marriage between foreign men and Thai women. At present, a foreign man married to a Thai woman must have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank in his own name in order to receive a spousal visa and continue to extend it yearly. A Thai man married to a foreign woman does not have to show any financial requirements. This is not equality. Will there be any financial requirements for same sex couples, or will the same rules apply for a Thai man married to a foreign man? Will there actually be real marriage equality for all regardless of the sex of a person's spouse? Hopefully, real marriage equality be the result. -

iCon Fraud Unveiled: Lessons in Greed and Hard Truths
It was good to see the police arrested the celebrities also as they gave the appearance of legitimacy to the con which is often the case. They cant cry no knowledge or no involvement as they were part of the group facilitating the scam. I hope the courts really act on this and force the disclosure of the digital coin investments as part of the bail and sentencing agreements. I know that's probably not gonna happen and like most high-profile cases it will slowly evaporate as time goes on and no follow up from the news agencies. As for those conned, they have their own share of the scam guilt as they were also preying on others or trying to in order to gain wealth at someone else's expense. -

Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
I am not so sure that this is the case. PWC issued this 'significant development' on 16 October. Thailand - Individual - Significant developments (pwc.com) Last reviewed - 16 October 2024 On 15 September 2023 and 20 November 2023, The Revenue Department issued No. Paw. 161/2566 and Paw. 162/2566 regarding personal income tax (PIT) for a Thai resident who brings assessable income into Thailand from abroad. This order shall come into force for assessable income brought into Thailand from 1 January 2024 onwards. According to this order: A Thai resident means a person residing in Thailand at one or more times for a period equal to 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. If a Thai resident earns foreign-sourced income in 2024 and brings it into Thailand in the same year or any subsequent year, they will be subject to PIT on that income, regardless of whether they are resident in Thailand at the time. This is obviously the opinion of PWC, and therefore not fact, but if TRD has just released this 'significant development' then that second paragraph is a huge worry for all Expats in Thailand, or thinking of living/working in Thailand in the future. My initial read is that it means even if you bring it into Thailand in 2025 or afterwards, it is taxable income. But it also 'reads' that if you earn any income after 1 January 2024, you are liable to pay income taxes to Thailand if ay anytime in the future you become a tax resident in Thailand. Surely that is not the intention and it is ridiculous that TRD would require any new Expat who becomes a tax resident in Thailand in 2030, to be liable to pay income taxes on any income earned overseas after 1 January 2024. Surely they mean that if you were a tax resident in 2024 and earned money overseas in 2024, but then brought it into Thailand in say 2026 when you were not a Thai tax resident, that money was still taxable income. -

How many times have you left Thailand?
I did think about it once or twice, but when I look at what it costs to rent in the old country, before even thinking about the cost of food etc etc, is enough to turn me off. What I have learnt in the decade that I have lived here is, that you can't live back in the old country the way you would live here, e.g. to live in the house that I built my Mrs on her land, e.g. 5 beds, 3 baths, on 1,000 square metres with a 20 metre frontage, yes up country, would cost me 60 million baht vs 2.5-3.0 mil baht that it cost me to build it here. To rent say a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom 100 square metre 2000 built condo where I would want to live would set me back 18,000 baht per week, yes week. Thailand is not perfect by far, and you can call me a racist if you like, but I'm not, the thing is, I only see the same faces here (Thai's), over and over again, vs a failed multi-cultural society back in the old country. Would I go back, what would be perfect for me would be to spend 3 months here, 3 months there, or 6 and 6 but it's hard with kids, so you bite the bullet, but when the kids do finish school, I will seriously look at returning for them, because work and working conditions here is the pits from what I have been told. -

UNIFIL’s Misguided Role in Southern Lebanon: A Threat to Israel's Security
Sorry Brian. The OP, which is itself an opinion piece, provides a description of the UNFIL mission which is a false, simplistic and misleading. I have provided a link to the actual UNFIL mission. Feel free to de-read the OP’s description of the UNFIL mission and the actual mission given in the link I provided. -

Kamala Harris Defends Policy Stance in Heated Fox News Interview
This is complete and utter rubbish. If you disagree you can go to the YT video of the interview, open the transcript and copy and paste the answers. I will be interested to see her answers. By the way your point 3 proves the point of a non answer. A deflection. A politicians answer. She was asked about when she first became aware of Biden's cognitive decline, NOT about his record. Point six she was specifically asked to supply a number. Please copy and paste the number she gave from the transcript. Good luck. -

Famous Singer Tik Shiro Involved in Fatal Bangkok Car Accident, Two Dead
Thats not my aim here - as with all these discussions, my interest is 'how' this incident happend... (You're a drink driver and you're calling me a d!ck ok - we can get over the personal stuff and continue the discussion).... ... what is the root cause ?... thats what I'm trying to discuss.... So far I see root cause as: - Tik (driver) DUI - 2x legal limit - Poor visibility (Tik was wearing dark glasses in every photo / window tint ? poor lighting) - Motorcycle sticking out 20cm into the driving lane So far you have highlighted, speed... - Do you see speed as a route cause ?... - Do you see that only speed was the root cause, or in your opinion do you see other factors too ? - Again, how fast was he going ? -
