Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
I can see why you would say that, but a mutual fund such as a Superannuation Fund, is not something any individual can do by themselves. They are not an IRA and they are also not an employer created 401K like in USA. In Australia, and other places. a Super Fund is controlled by the Govt and it is mandated that employers contribute to the Fund selected by the employee, plus the employee can input additional funds to his Fund account (with some Govt restrictions). The Super Fund pays taxes to the Govt on the total earnings made by the Fund over each financial year (with some exclusions). Essentially they are a savings account made mandatory by the Govt so that not everyone needs the Govt Pension. In reality, when most people retire get some Super money and some Govt Pension. But when it comes to most European countries, their retirement funds are a whole different ball game - very complex. -

BBC Accused of Bias in Israel-Hamas Coverage: Over 1,500 Breaches of Guidelines
The difference is that the BBC is state funded and is supposed to be neutral. It is in the charter. They don't even hide their bias, calling Hamas terrorists "freedom fighters". It's absolutely disgusting. The BBC are nothing more than state funded left wing propaganda. Funded by money extorted from the citizens via draconian threats. It will get far worse under Labour. -

I don't know if you require examples of his lies, there are many to choose from. I have been looking for lies from the democrats or left-leaning politicians of other nations, but came short in the short tme I searched, maybe you have some examples ? -

Investment for income stream for a Thai
I'm thinking the same, there is a worldwide asset bubble, one worldwide recession and a lot of value will be wiped out. However that SCB option doesn't look that bad, just the prices need to go down. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
Obviusly - the reason for this change to worldwide income taxation is because so many people have never or do not pay income taxes to any country.. Taxation agreements need to be read by the expats from whatever country they come from so that they know if they have to pay taxes in their country or to Thailand if they are a tax-resident here. -

Rising Wave of Anti-Semitism Sparks Fears of a Dark Future for Jewish Communities
am i the only reader who to is tired of endless "woe is me" reports of increasing anti-semitism around the world? the Jews continue to butcher palestinians by the tens of thousands while manipulating western governments into offering unlimited military, political, financial, and diplomatic support for their ongoing genocide - meanwhile constantly shrieking about how frightened they are of "anti semitism." Jews continue to be one of the wealthiest (if not the wealthiest) ethnic groups in the world and they are generally well treated by the western world. to a reader on this site recently posted his opinion that Jews are not racist: a friend of mine, who is a jew, initially could not qualify for immigration to Israel because his credentials were in doubt despite having Jews for both parents, attending hebrew school as a youth and being recommended by his family rabbi. good luck to non-jews who want to retire there. -

PM suspected of Trying to Erase Evidence Related to Thaksin's Hospital Stay
No. More people voted for MFP than for any other one party. But not more than all the other parties put together. So you can scarcely call it 'overwhelming'. What it means is that no one party had a majority so, to form a government that can pass legislation in the Lower House, you have to form a coalition. And MFP & PT did form a coalition for 5 minutes till PT got what it thought was a better offer from the dinosaurs. Will that do PT any good in the long run? Well, we'll have a fair idea after the next 'election'. -

Temu vs. Lazada for Online Shopping Bliss?
I clicked this because I have seen some interesting items on Temu and a little confused about shipping, etc. so not just jumping upon your post. I ordered one item from Decathalon online, which I returned and exchanged for a different size. There was some issue because i needed to complete a Google form or something, the guy who called a couple of times and sorted out my mess was amazing, quite honestly the best customer helpline experience I have had in Thailand. When I first spoke to the guy I didn’t believe he was Thai because of his accent and his sensible manner. I don’t have cause to buy from Decathalon, but I’m surprised by your comment. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
As a US citizen, my reading of Article 40 & 41 of our tax treaty, appears to exempt my Social Security and retirement funds (from having taught in the state education system). I and my Thai Wife will await concrete results on this matter. Bottom line, I am at home in several global cultures. I was looking for a long term retirement home when I left my home in the USA. Thailand ... up to you. It has been a mutually beneficial relationship but, I am not a prisoner to any country/culture and while not wealthy, there were other countries I had considered before coming to live here in Chiang Mai.
