Do you hate the Police?

Recommended Posts

Imagine the world without police.

In the UK the police have been underfunded & has essential powers removed - they are then faulted for being infective.

Ironically, people complain about the police right up until the point they need them & societies such as the the UK need them more than ever…. They need more funding & to be able to operate properly.

I admire anyone wanting to be a policeman for the right reasons and give back to the community for it now has to be one of the sh!££est jobs going - d be a policeman in todays world?

They are desperately needed & need to have far more power than they are currently afforded.

Brutalising elderly Australians who were protesting against Covid restrictions.

I suggest if you're old and frail that you don't protest and leave the protesting to young people.

I think you're delusional about what police work often entails, georgie boy

Watch this. Happens all the time.

Cops getting shot at.

Watch some police bodycam footage and you'll have more respect for what they do.

Nah, they're just doing their job.  People have this bizarre idea that "right to protest" means being allowed to occupy public areas until they get what they want, which isn't the case.

Obviously the police have to move people on before they get out of control, and they're of course allowed to use force to do this.  People don't like it, but generally that's because the police are authority figures who have the power to tell people what to do, which a lot of people cannot cope with.

I love it when they move those Anti Transexual protestors along .

Parents who protest outside libraries must be arrested and re-education on transexual rights

A lot of people are completely deluded when it comes to police.  They seem think that just because they know (or believe) they are innocent, that the police should treat them as such, and they should never have to comply with anything the police ask them to do.

This is not really for expats in Asia but I was watching YouTube seeing protestors against the immigration in the UK being bashed with shields even elderly men.

I see people shouting out scum etc to to police

I saw it in Australia too during Covid where police were bashing and manhandling protesters

I was once walking home from work , in 2021 in Australia in the middle of a Covid protest.

I saw a old cop with his back turned standing in front of a raised garden bed

Suddenly a protestor pushed him into the garden bed arse over.

I stood there and lauged at the old cop as he lay face down in mud 😅

Are we in the Western Countries turning against the police ?

British police in particular seem to be government ass lickers !

Such posts shouldn't be published. It's like a hate speech already

I don't hate the police. I feel sorry for them at the sharp end, having to carry out the politically correct orders from the top brass. And for the type of training that they seem to be given now. Many of them seem to be straight out of college. In my day many policemen were ex-military and behaved as such. You didn't argue or get into a political discussion. It was a whack around the back of your head and "It's Bow Street for you my lad."

This was the case over 30 years ago. My police academy class had 100 recruits.  Only 10 had any kind of military experience. My guess is the percentage is even lower now. Many forget police offciers are recruited from the general population. Criminals also come from the general population.  The best of society rarely get involved in the criminal justice system.  It has always been like this.  Yes, police are the most often used tool by elected politicians to push their priorities. It is what it is. On the job we all have to follow orders.  Oftern the orders are vague and subject to interpreation.  "just take care of the problem and don't bother me with the detials".  "vigorously enforce all applicable laws at this event" etc, etc. When things go south who is the easiest member of the government to blame?

Here I don't mind the police, they stay out of my face and I try to stay out of theirs. I find most here to be polite.

Cops are people doing a job I wouldn't want, or have the balls to do.

That said, like all people, most have good character but there are always a couple of slackers or bad eggs. Not many... but enough to tarnish the name of the good ones.
Here in Thailand, police seem to operate on a different model than in other countries. We don't see walking beat cops, we don't see regular neighborhood patrols, and we certainly don't see cops on the street pulling over reckless drivers. But... is that the fault of the cops themselves... or the orders that come down from the top?  Perhaps around Bangkok, Pattaya, or Hua Hin you can find cops on the streets, but certainly not in the North.

I have NEVER seen a driver or rider pulled over for reckless driving in all the years I've been here.

The problem isn't the cops. It's the bosses and their agenda.

My daughter's in the London Met and I love her very much, but I'm not particularly enamoured with that illustrious body at the moment. I was shocked by the sight of them arresting people at random during the Whitehall protest. Even watched them beat up a young man and arrest an old lady just for standing peacefully protesting. Yet a certain group of people seem to get a free pass, despite physically attacking armed policemen and fighting rival gangs with machetes. I'm worried sick about my daughter's safety and although I don't condone the riots, I curse our PM for inflaming the situation with his politically partisan announcements.

There's bad apples in all walks of life.  Some do a better job than others, some are corrupt.

Here, I think the same about RTP.

But aside from the corruption, there is zero police presence on the highways.  All those grown humans driving like a fu kin idiot have no concern because there are no cops out patrolling the roads, and except for the Highway police that don't seem to do anything except escort Chinese tour busses, the rest aren't gonna pursue any motorist with a tiny scooter bike.

I don't go in the city centers, the 'gut' in some places, but all I ever see is them showing up after something happens.

Oh...I gotta mention about the police checks.  I guess that's valuable in some sense, but there isn't any deterrence.

I don't hate the police. I don't envy them either.

In the case of violent scumbags protesting, I think the police should be allowed to use rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons from a distance as required to restore peace and order.

Having to fight them one by one with batons and shields causes too many injuries among the police officers.

Ah why would you want to become a policeman or woman these days, serving the government, which when it comes down to it also drops you like a brick? Or serving the public, for whom in many cases the same applies?
Incidentally, you have to have a certain mindset to choose this.
