Popular Post spidermike007 Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 Not even close. Shapiro would have been a mistake. He is a potential presidential candidate down the road, but now would not have been the right time, as a practicing, orthodox Jew, who supports the Gaza war. From 2006 until 2016, Walz’s constituents in Minnesota’s first district re-elected him, often by a considerable majority every two years. When he ran for governor in 2018, he came away with 53.9 percent of Minnesota’s vote – the largest margin a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party candidate won by in more than 30 years. In 2022, he was re-elected with 52 percent of the vote. His re-elections are often tied to a respectable approval rating. A January 2024 approval rating poll, conducted by local Minnesota news outlet KAAL-TV, found that 55 percent of respondents thought Walz was doing a good job. But voters across the nation seem less passionate about Vance as a vice president candidate. Polling from NPR, PBS and Marist College found that Vance has a 33 percent disapproval rating – a drop from 28 percent when he was first made Trump’s running mate. FiveThirtyEight, which compiles polling from across the nation and creates an average, puts Vance at a 40.6 percent unfavorable rating. 3 2 1 2

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 He was an excellent choice. He will present his Republican counterpart, JD Vance, with a gratifyingly large problem. That problem is authenticity, one of the major absurdist planks of Trump’s campaign, in which the scion of a New York real estate empire accuses his rivals of being “east-coast elites”. Walz, unlike almost every other high-profile Democrat going back decades – including Hillary Clinton’s affable and somewhat Walz-like 2016 running mate, Tim Kaine – is not a lawyer. He did not go to Harvard or Yale, a fact he is proving happy to weaponise. If Walz has the energy of a dad reminding his grown-up kids to stay hydrated, he is also, on the evidence of the first day of campaigning, still very much the high school coach running the cafeteria at lunchtime, using all the modes – sarcasm, booming aggression, sudden, sharp mockery – that traditionally keep feral adolescents in order. Walz said to the crowd in Philadelphia: “Like all regular people in America’s heartland, JD Vance studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and wrote a bestseller trashing that community … COME ON!” He was named the ranking member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in 2017. He focused on issues such as veterans’ mental health, suicide and pain management. He also called for funding to research medical cannabis treatment for veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain. Walz served 24 years in the Army National Guard before retiring from a field artillery battalion in 2005 as a command sergeant major, one of the military’s highest enlisted ranks. 3 2 3 2

Popular Post Mazungu Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 Walz served honorably for his country. Period. Before he retired from the National Guard in 2005 he was only aware that his battalion could be mobilized to serve in Iraq within the next two years. You Trumpsters are really fishing for a hidden bone spur. https://taskandpurpose.com/news/swift-boat-walz/ The timeline of Walz’s service and the deployment of his unit, the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery Regiment, is relatively clear, through public records, news accounts and press releases at the time: April 2004: Walz returns to Minnesota with the 1/125th after a year long deployment as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Turkey and Europe. Walz was stationed at Vicenza, Italy, where the unit pulled guard duty on friendly military bases, which may have been back-fill duty for active duty units deployed to Afghanistan. He was promoted to command sergeant major of the battalion soon after returning. March 2005: Walz’s newly-formed campaign for a Congressional House seat releases a press release that indicates Walz is aware of a possible but unconfirmed deployment, though no official orders have been announced. “The National Guard Public Affairs Office announced a possible partial mobilization of roughly 2,000 troops from the Minnesota National Guard,” the press release said. “The announcement from the National Guard PAO specified that all or a portion of Walz’s battalion could be mobilized to serve in Iraq within the next two years… When asked about his possible deployment to Iraq Walz said, ‘As Command Sergeant Major I have a responsibility not only to ready my battalion for Iraq, but also to serve if called on. I am dedicated to serving my country to the best of my ability, whether that is in Washington DC or in Iraq.” May 2005: Walz officially retires from the Minnesota National Guard after 24 years of service, according to documents posted online that appear to be his NGB Form 22, a Report of Separation and Record of Service. Walz previously retired after 20 years of service but returned to service after Sept. 11, he wrote in a Winona Daily News opinion piece, re-enlisting for four years. However, his NGB Form 22 indicates his “terminal reserve/military service obligation” date was September 2007. July 2005: The 125th Field Artillery Regiment receives initial call-up orders and, that fall, deploys for training in Mississippi as part of the 34th Infantry Divisions’ 1st Brigade Combat Team. March 2006: The 125th deploys to Iraq, 10 months after Walz had separated from the unit. The unit will not return until September 2007. 1 1 1 1

I somehow doubt that at that age he was likely to have been considered for deployment. However, I am sure that you have the links to back that all up... People called up from the Guard who were in their mid 50s went to Iraq and Afghanistan. There was a shortage of troops. This became one of the scandals of the Bush era deployments. Guard units began to be mobilized in 2005. Everybody knew what was coming, even before that. 1 1

By Nathalie Baptiste, Aug 7, 2024 https://www.huffpost.com/entry/tim-walz-weird-attacks_n_66b3b3ebe4b0e4caf7f4fb63 "The Republicans’ problem is now twofold. They seem to be unable to come up with attacks that can stick — especially to a politician who is white, Midwestern and moderate. Then there’s the fact that the Republican Party has abandoned any pretense of having a policy platform and has chosen to double down on its ever-growing list of white grievances. And while making deranged claims about Walz’s record may satisfy its base, the culture war-style attacks are becoming more inscrutable to the average voter with each passing day." He's an old white guy. East meat for any good propagandist in these strange days.

John Drake Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 From the people who know Walz best, his fellow Minnesotans. Quote In early 2005, a warning order was issued to the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion, which included the position he was serving in, to prepare to be mobilized for active duty for a deployment to Iraq. On May 16th, 2005 he quit, leaving the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion and its Soldiers hanging; without its senior Non-Commissioned Officer, as the battalion prepared for war. His excuse to other leaders was that he needed to retire in order to run for congress. Which is false, according to a Department of Defense Directive, he could have run and requested permission from the Secretary of Defense before entering active duty; https://www.wctrib.com/community/letters/the-truth-about-tim-walz 2

Primaries are there to weed out candidates the people don't want, so it's no wonder the fix had to be in to get this awful woman elected.
