A young actor in a TV series crashed his jet ski into a long-tail boat.
.

Reported details are that rescue teams on arrival at the scene, found two injured individuals: Ms. Nanyaree, 17, and her mother, Ms. Onrada, 41. Both suffered bruises and body pain and were promptly taken to Bangpakok Samut Prakan Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, it was reported that two individuals had gone missing in the river: Ms. Parichat, 44, a passenger on the longtail boat, and Mr. Prayoon, 64, the boat operator. Rescue divers and underwater specialists were immediately deployed to search for the missing individuals, the bodies later being recovered from the water.

Mr. Mongkonsawat, 48, Ms. Parichat's husband, recounted the events leading up to the accident. He and his wife were aboard a small longtail boat, crossing the river from Bang Krachao Nok to Rama III for business. During the crossing, a jet ski collided with their boat, throwing his wife and the boat operator into the water. Mr. Mongkonsawat managed to survive the accident and stated he narrowly escaped drowning.

On the other side of the incident, a well-known series actor named Mr. QP admitted to driving the jet ski that collided with the boat. He had been traveling with his girlfriend and her mother, along with ten others on five jet skis. They had come from the Chom Thong area in Bangkok to dine in Phra Pradaeng. After finishing their meal, Mr. QP and a friend were driving their jet skis back home when the accident occurred. He stated that the river was dark, and he could not see the other boat in time to avoid the collision. He also mentioned that the longtail boat had no lights or signals. Mr. QP expressed his deep shock and regret over the accident. The results of an alcohol content test, found the value to be 0, there was no alcohol in QP's system at all, but QP's boat driver's license was not found.

Authorities from Phra Pradaeng Police Station have summoned Mr. QP and the other jet ski riders involved for questioning. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.

I am presuming 03:10 is AM... who wants to ride on a jet ski at that time which is un-illuminated as are most other small boats on the river, strong currents and god knows what else in the water.

Accident waiting to happen.

Surely there must be a regulation that if you're on the water during the hours of darkness you must have navigation lights?

My comments have no direct bearing on this unfortunate accident. But there are so many scams involving jet-ski rentals that I would refrain from using them even if they were free.

And that already for many, many years, and believe me nothing will change.

My condo is next to the river on the 26th floor.  The master bedroom exterior walls are 2/3rds windows.   It has two balconies, one for the master bedroom and the other off the living room and both have good views of the river.  .   I see longtails working both day and night.   Most of the time, the longtails have some kind of light, sometimes two, but not all.  I have gone out on the balcony trying to see the ones at night that do not run with lights and can barely spot them in the water, running at full speed.

I see jet skis too.   Most of the time they are running at full speed.  Most of the ones I see at night are running with some kind of light, usually headlight and sometimes with some kind of colored running lights on the tail.

I have seen some pretty scary near collisions at night between the two.   Makes me wonder if either driver can hear the other with the noise they make.
