Pattaya Steps Up Security at National Sports Centre with CCTV Plan
They have CCTV cameras all over Pattaya. They have had no effect on the numbers of daily casualties. They are only consulted AFTER an event so will NOT improve safety. The cameras are just ornamental and a nice little earner for the supplier/installer who are no doubt related to someone on the council. -

The One Fatal Issue That Both Parties Consistently Refuse to Address
The evidence humans have caused climate change is incontrovertible. Prior to 1960 atmospheric carbon dioxide levels were 320 ppm. The annual rate of increase since then is 100 times faster than previous natural increases, such as occurred after the most recent ice age 11,000 years ago. There's only one source, the burning of fossil fuels, which can explain said rate of increase. The greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide is fact. It's basic chemistry and physics. What really worries scientists is the potential for a decrease in albedo, or increase in methane release from permafrost, to trigger a butterfly effect. The butterfly effect was first explained by Friedrich Schiller in a short story about 200 years ago. A miniscule change in one part of the world causing catastrophic events in other areas. -

Suphan Buri: Subdistrict Administrative Member Caught Exploiting 12-Year-Old Girl
Picture courtesy: Thai Rath In a disturbing case from Suphan Buri, a 12-year-old girl fled to seek help after being forced into prostitution by her aunt to serve a local official in Doembang Nangbuat District. The aunt received 2,000 baht, giving only 1,000 baht to the girl. On September 12, 2024, police from Doembang Nangbuat Station questioned a Tambon Administrative Organization Council member, identified as Mr. Sakon Phonsajjatham, following allegations of sexual abuse involving the girl. The girl's aunt reportedly arranged for her niece to provide sexual services to Mr. Sakon. Authorities, including the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, escorted the victim’s family for questioning and protection, while Mr. Sakon was interrogated. Efforts were made to keep the family and the girl under care and away from media interference. Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Sakon negotiated with the girl's aunt, who brought her niece to him for 2,000 baht. The girl was taken to a hotel, where Mr. Sakon abused her after consuming a pill. Afterwards, he returned the girl to her aunt, who gave her 1,000 baht. When the girl refused to go with Mr. Sakon again, citing pain, her aunt scolded her. Fearing further abuse, the girl sought refuge at a friend’s house, eventually contacting trusted individuals who helped her reach government authorities. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is now pursuing charges against Mr. Sakon for child rape. Alleged Drunk Driver Causes Traffic Jam in Pattaya After Refusing to Exit Car
Why did the cops stand negotiating with her? Smash the window & drag her out. She has endangered every other road user locally; has inconvenienced other drivers. She doesn't deserve kid-gloves treatment. -

Phuket Named World’s Most Overcrowded Destination Amid Tourism Boom
They're not at fault and "the elites" don't chose who comes but some of us find certain groups repellant regardless of how they got here. Indians, Arabs and Chinese rub me the wrong so I will avoid them. Thai people don't even like them much right? When I first arrived in Thailand a Thai woman told me a proverb "between an Indian and a snake who do you hit first? The Indian". Curious how the poor Thai people in Phuket are coping with this surge. -

Harris Surges Past Trump In Election Betting Markets After First Presidential Debate
OK, and Snopes, which is generally a very reliable fact-checking website, also said what you’re saying (I haven’t read the Snopes article). But, getting a little deeper into the weeds on Trump’s rhetoric and doublespeak, perhaps it’s not that simple: https://newrepublic.com/article/183082/nopes-trump-very-fine-people To state up front, the New Republic, which printed the above article, is (these days at least) a left-leaning publication, so you’re likely to dismiss it for that reason alone, but you should read it anyway. Drawing another analogy, of the more than 5 million German soldiers and sailors who died during World War II (and the many millions more who fought and survived), the great majority were decent men who simply thought that they were doing their duty; they were not Nazis. But that’s very different from making a conscious decision to attend a rally that is organized by white supremacists and neo-Nazis and very much promoted as such. For Trump to hem and haw on the issue in an effort to not lose voters, even the worst sort, tells me that he has no principles whatsoever. -
