What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
newnative, When I was living in Lake Maprachan we never got to Central Bic-C or Jomtien in less than an hour in traffic. One way. Traffic sucks all the time! HiWay was slower than surface "Porn Rd".... Otherwise you know well Pattaya. You also have better nerves than me. -

Funny that you didn't question the credibility of NY AG Leticia James when she actually ran on a platform of "Get Trump". Levrentiy Beria would be proud of both of you. -

Foreign pickup driver flees after crashing into Thai woman in Phuket
Heard multiple stories like this from various places and it's exactly why I don't drive in third world countries. Everything is fine until it isn't. -

Mixed kid living in Thailand.
International Schools here are the worst mockery of education. Yesterday visited Berkeley at Bang-Na to meet old friend: "wannabee asylum on steroids" I'm not sure what '=Berkley is like... But if you've never had a child at one of the international schools in Thailand, then you are not qualified to comment. My Son's International school is simply fantastic. That is surely an individual situation - there is no consistency that suggests in 'single parent situations the father is always better' - thats just rubbish, the mother may be the better parent, or neither. You will need healthcare one day - and if its something serious that can get very expensive (my bills have exceeded US$20,000 in the past 12 months alone) For the free healthcare option - Citizenship makes sense for anyone living here who is working here (for longer than 3 years) - it takes effort of course. And you get a yearly visa - with the life time Thai Elite, I get a life time of Visas, a lifetime of Airport transport and fast track, a life time of free Golf, Massages, yearly hospital checkups... 15 years in, Membership has already paid for itself and then there is the option to sell it on.... (and memberships are now worth more than they use to). -

Just moved from Chiang Mai to Suk, Soi 11. Can't fault it; it's like living in a very chill version of Times Square. Tremendous restaurant selection. AnotherFarang said that Bangkok IS Thailand. I agree. -

Trump Harris: Who won the debate ?
The number of tie-breaking votes cast is a product of a hung Congress, nothing at all to do with any qualities of the VP.- 1

NHS Faces Critical Crossroads: Reform or Die, Warns Prime Minister
That would have to be managed with umh, considerably more tact and finesse than the imposition of judicial sanctions on those with "distasteful" views Now that is in my opinion very likely, perhaps not totally denied but certainly in a "second tier"! Possibly issue captive bolt guns to paramedics called to people taken ill whilst smoking in pub beer gardens? Maybe initially going a tad far but carefully spun... -

Plug and Play Solar
Electricity is periodically very expensive in mainland Europe and it has become popular in Germany to install "balcony solar" which typically is a micro inverter with the capacity of 800-1500W and 2-4 solar panels. The inverter outputs 230V AC and can be plugged in directly to a wall socket, it will offset the owners electricity bill a bit at daytime during sunny days.
