Thailand buys more JAS 39 from Sweden

Featured Replies

The JAS 39 Gripen competed with the American F16 from Lockheed Martin. Before the selection, Thailand has set up two expert groups, panels, which will evaluate both models. The groups' conclusions are said to be presented later this week.

On the Stockholm Stock Exchange, Saab's share rose 1.6% on the data.

Thailand has stationed the JAS 39 Gripen bought before in suratthani air base.

The Bangkok Post reported the same story.  What's the newspaper that we cannot mention?

Wing 7 is based out of Surat Thani, with Hat Yai (Wing 56) as their forward operations base. They had 12 JAS 39 but they crashed one. Currently it's 7 model C and 4 model D, the new ones will be the E variant. Buying more Gripen makes good sense as pilots and ground crews are already trained on them, and you don't require a whole new spares inventory.

These I presume the new ones are going to Wing 1, based out of Korat, who currently have old F-16.

I know.  I was asking him which is the newspaper we cannot mention, not which one we cannot quote from.  The Bangkok Post can be mentioned all day long.

Not so long ago the Government was reporting it was running short

of money to keep the 30 Baht health care system running ,so they

have money to buy military equipment , but what is more important

health and education or weapons of war ......they need to get their

priorities right

Better keep grounded so they don't crash!

Small wings ahead of main ones, called "Canards", are the problem. There are many crashes and near crashes thank to them.

One year one near hit Swedish King's castle in center of Stockholm during air show...
