Authorities in Nonthaburi province are investigating the discovery of a newborn's body found floating in a canal, with the umbilical cord still attached. Police believe the infant had been dead for approximately two days before being found. A search is now underway to identify the mother.

On September 18, officers from Sai Noi Police Station, alongside volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, arrived at the scene in response to reports of a newborn’s body floating in Khlong Ha Roi, Moo 2, Khlong Khwang Subdistrict, Sai Noi District, Nonthaburi Province. Medical professionals were called in to assist in the investigation.

The body of the infant, found to be in good physical condition, was retrieved from the water by rescue workers. Preliminary examination revealed an elastic band tied around the umbilical cord, and it is estimated the infant had been deceased for around two days.

Ms. Daraporn Kongprasert, 52, wife of the local village headman and a volunteer health worker in the area, reported that a resident had alerted them to the body. Upon inspection, they found the infant floating near a bridge about 20 metres from where it was initially spotted. Ms. Daraporn described the body as being face-down, with the newborn’s skin still red, and with the umbilical cord attached. She suggested that the body might not have been abandoned by a local, as she doubted anyone from the village would commit such an act.

Ms. Daraporn speculated that the perpetrator might have been a migrant worker, given the significant population of migrant laborers living in the area, with many residing in nearby dormitories and working in local factories. She also confirmed that no local women were known to be pregnant, based on her role as a health worker.

Police officials stated that they have photographed the scene and interviewed local residents but have yet to identify any suspects. Authorities plan to continue gathering information and will summon the responsible party for questioning.

The infant's body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for further examination to determine the exact cause of death and collect additional evidence.

Another sad incident hits todays morning news. We don´t know what might have caused this to happen. panic, mental illness or lack of money to support as well as a sudden broken relationship could be answers. However, one thing we definitely know is a big contributor to people abandoning and killing their newborn babies is the lack of abortion options. Here Thailand is making a big mistake by prohibiting the possibility of abortion, therefore contributing to crimes such as this.

You just make things up.

women can get abortions in Thailand.

Abortion in Thailand is legal and available on-request up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Stop posting nonsense.

You can stop post nonsense. where did I write it was illegal? Where did I post it was not available?

Am I making up that Thailand´s way of beliefs does not support abortion? Does the authorities go out and promote abortion as an option for unwanted pregnancy?

Does the face thing in Thailand prohibit or support abortion?

Now answer this, instead of posting garbage one more time.

Read above!

Read what you posted!   You claimed that "Thailand is making a big mistake by prohibiting the possibility of abortion".  Thailand is not prohibiting the possibility of abortion.

Yes, they are, by trying to force religious beliefs, authorities blind eyes. In those ways they prohibit. However, not lawfully, but through dead information channels or ways to deliver information that it should be a wrongful act.

Perhaps you need to word your initial claims more lucidly instead of following up with clarification after you've been called out on your apparent inadvertent misinformation!

It doesn't really matter whether you kill the baby before or after birth , its the same thing . Killing the baby a few months before its born would cost more than drowning the baby after its born

A few month before it´s born? I thought it was 9 month delivery. What we are talking about here is to make an abortion within 20 weeks after pregnancy. That´s about 4,5 months. In reality only half the time.

And NO! It´s not same.

Glad I cleared that up for you.

What is the full meaning of prohibited?

: not permitted : forbidden by authority, illegal. The police can arrest anybody found in the vicinity of prohibited drugs, whether he's an innocent visitor or the real culprit.

He has backflipped again.

He always wants to get in first, and because of that rush he doesn’t read links or research his claims.

I don't know what's sadder...

- the plight of the poor mother who feels she needs to kill or abandon her (dead) baby

- the poor baby, who never had a chance of a life

- the AN members bickering over who's right and who's wrong

RIP little one

Best of luck to the mum for the future

Oh, you were that guy earlier claiming abortion is prohibited in Thailand.

You probably heard that one in the bar. Probably just a language barrier issue.

If I understand correctly, drowned bodies sink to the bottom and only surface later when they start to ferment (I'm sure there's a better word for it) so it's likely that the baby was dead before being put into the water - maybe even stillborn.
