If you otherwise meet the restrictions, then January 23, yes. I do not expect the same laws by then though.

There are still qualifications, especially for the Thai males work and salary but considerably easier than for women

I have not studied it because it does  not affect me. Regardless of the restrictions though, there is an opportunity for foreign wives but none for foreign husbands.

I agree, but they will need to clean up some laws to make everything fit.

Yes, indeed. Probably quite a lot. I think that's the main reason for the 120-day moratorium.

They don't but the current law gives residency to foreign women marrying Thai men. Foreign men marrying Thai women do not get this benefit.

I am not quite sure what "gives residency to foreign women marrying Thai men" means. In what way is it "given"? When I was married to my Thai wife, and we had children, I applied for, and was granted, residency on the basis of supporting a Thai family. That is how I am here now, with no reporting, no annnual extensions, just living here except when I need to go overseas.

How can you obtain a lease for 99 years when the maximum is 30 years???

Sorry my mistake but, unless you are still very young, 30 years would be a good start.

Foreign wives can get residency just by marrying Thai men. No kids, no dependencies needed.

And don't forget that residency does not alllow work. A Work Permit is still required.

I think if straight men could get sex as easily as gay men the marriage rates would collapse to single digits. Makes we wonder how many gay men will get married anyways.

What has your experiance been to know what route to take for knowing who obtains the most sex ?

It will be interesting to see what Immigration will make of this regarding yearly stays.

Currently a foreign man married to a Thai lady needs 400,000in the bank.

A foreign lady married to a Thai man needs nothing, zilch, bugger all.

How about a foreign man married to a Thai man?

Or a foreign lady married to a Thai lady?

I just saw an engagement notice on Facebook between a ladyboy and a Thai lady. At least she claimed to be a Thai lady on Facebook.

The only way to know is to check for a baby on her Facebook, as lady boys don't normally show babies on FB.

An engagement between a "ladyboy", ie a person with a penis, and a lady, ie a person with a vagina, is not a same sex engagement. In other words, you are off topic.

I'm not sure if the "lady" is really female. The timing of the announcement makes me wonder.

Plus, the rarity of a ladyboy going with a lady.

I think we may be seeing a lot of ladyboy marriages.

I've already done the Australian end. It's the Thai end of things that's of concern, if my b/f (40 years younger & an appalling driver) predeceases me.  It's the usufruct that's of interest for me, not the inheritance which will go to members of  his family.

I seem to remember that a usufruct is more stable if the owner and the holder of the usufruct are not married.

hmmm…. it’s not likely to increase child birth rates i suggest?

For male couples, having their own children would involve surrogacy. Isn't that prohibited here?

Mmmm, well, whatever turns out to be useful. It may be that gentlemen's agreement within the family will suffice.

The main thing the family will be interested in will be to keep up the monthly & fortnightly flow of funds. Which isn't a problem as long as I'm alive, even if gaga (because of enduring power of attorney in Oz).

Maybe Immigration will need a bed photo to determine whether the Thai is on top, in which case no 400K will be required.
