I did the 26 weeks thing for many years, but too old to be messing around like than now. It's either there or here and I can't afford there without a pension.

Do they want you to actually be present, or just maintain an address there? Can you buy a small property and pay taxes and would that be good enough? Requiring physical presence feels a bit odd.

According to the WIPO statistics Singapore has more residential patents per 1 million population than UK.

 

Three out of the top four nations in the rankings are from Asia - South Korea, Japan and China.

 

Most of the innovations these days are incremental, long gone are the days of the fundamental discoveries.

 

Anyway, being proud of country and race is popular with the low class...as they have nothing else to be proud of.

In fact what this thread has shown is that those who are nationalists and proud of whtie culture are remarkably restrained, logical and reasonable.

To the objective observer, not so much. Americans were always better. No British comedian ever came close to Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Steve Martin. Americans are way better.

 

In the past maybe, you had a number of top acts, John Cleese, Rick Mayall, Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in their prime.

I can just enter a real world shop for hi-tech goods and see myself...for example my Sony Alpha III camera is a real masterpiece backed by numerous patents. Only distinct goods I see from UK are bottles of single malt whisky. Huawei just produced a phone which can be unfolded and used as a tablet.

 

There were many core inventions in the past few centuries by the Europeans, but the world has moved on. The Arabs also invented the numbers, and so on, but that was also ages ago.

My actual presence is required.

 

I didn't have any property, not even a car when I was living overseas before of pension age, as that would have allowed the money grubbers to tax me at residential rates, despite not living in the country.

 

It's all pointless even discussing it now, as I had to spend the money that I had as the Visa extension 800,000 baht to just survive in NZ, given the pension is too pitiful to live on alone.

That means I can never live in LOS again.

While there are obvious economic advantages when it comes to affordability of good accommodation in LOS, I would choose to live in LOS even if I was wealthy enough to own a good house here and never slept with a Thai woman there, as it's just a better quality of life. At least people are happier.
