Sadly pubs and twitter X seem to be the only public places and spaces  where people can actually say what's on the mind.

It seems like the woke stuff is becomjng more ridicioulous over time. It's pushing the boundry because nobody can say anything. Do you get somebody who gets off on identifying as a "trans, fairae, bi, hers, women's toilet, non identifying conformist..." and part of the appeal is everyone has to accept it no matter how crazy it is.

Yes, it's a widely held view that current British comedy is  not as good as it used to be. John Cleese has commented on this, and said that nobody would produce Monty Python today. It is most likely connected with the current crop of TV executives being mostly women, who are naturally unfunny and naturally inclined towards woke PC-dom. Even Jerry Seinfeld said this kills comedy.

I don't know if women advertising for a date still use the phrase "a sense of humour" when looking for the ideal man, but it was always BS anyway, as they'd never have gone out with Ken Dodd, or Cubby Roy Brown, and they were funny guys.

They have become a little more demanding now, 200,000 USD a year, 6ft and minor celebrity status is what you see on Tik Tok as common demands.

 

I suppose if you have great sense of humour it still helps to stand out and show you have some social status, though hard to make the transition from clown to sexual option. Even if that is accomplished the  real stress would start in terms of waiting to see if there is loyalty, an absence of neuroticism, bipolar issues, etc.

Yes, it is hard to understand why more men do not flood to Asia, though I suppose the cultural obstacles, language, education, economic class do present serious issues for many who want a long term relationship. The ideal clearly is to marry someone from your own culture, who speaks your language, shares your background and is better to communicate with. Clearly not at any price though, if she insists on things that are unreasonable Thailand, Russia, Brasil, there are many other options.

That was my ideal, but i gave up in my 20s having my friends experienced divorce rape culture for themselves

I tried dating apps for quite a few years when I lived in the USA. I can count on one hand the people I actually met (oddly enough when we did meet it worked out well).

 

However, I would have met more people on a time/effort ratio just sitting at the park.

 

It's a time waster setup to get people to watch ads and just interact online. There are also a huge amount of guys posing as females, getting off on that somehow. We are talking about women with hundreds of emails coming in. So many that it takes hours to delete and sift through them, so I heard.

That is a cardinal rule, that you never hit up a girl that's been on there 2 years, a year, 6 months. Ideally you want a girl that's just signed up. After 2 weeks, better you don't contact them.

Errrrr, I suspect that when it comes to a "sense of humour" women differ greatly from men in what women expect as a "sense of humour".

 

For example, I once went to a comedy show where the comedian had well known views of women and they were not complementary. Of course the usual mob of women looking to cause trouble were in the audience, and when one exceptionally annoying woman was told to get a job as a traffic hump, most of the men roared with laughter, but the women were not amused.

 

IMO a woman's version of a "sense of humour" is one where the guy laughs at her jokes, no matter how pathetic they are.

Didn't work for me. I was offered a girl right off the bus from the village by her sister, who had been working bar for a while. When we got to the room and it was time to hide the sausage, she declined to remove her clothing.

Of course she was back in the bar in record time, but while I refused to "tip" her, the mama san chose to not refund me the bar fine.

Sounds strange, but I have a hard time envisioning Thai guys like moto taxi guys or street shop guys having sex at all.

My three kids, two American one Thai all do it. I think the idea of picking up someone in a bar as we did in the old days is almost repugnant  to them.

 

Both my youngest daughter and Thai son hooked up through some dating app, got Grandkids outta it so I'm happy
