Oh please there is no need for nastiness against anyone ,

At least he tried to start up a bar and good on him for trying

Thanking him for his service

He's a total idiot and a good example of everything not to do here. He paid for the bar start up, nothing was i his name but his partner's who soon chopped him out, then he started e begging as a victim when the money ran low.

I saw on Facebook a soi 6 bar for sale for 20m+ wasn't long ago they'd struggle to get the standard 1m baht. That's where they seem to make the money on selling the business rather than Beers

There seems to be an increase in the last year of new bars that are for sale within a month or two of opening.

Obviously the Aussie bar the Billabong is doing something right to attract so many customers

Better than that sour faced staff at the other "Aussie " bar in Jomtien beach ,

Bars are only as good as their staff or / and owner

Billabong sure sold a ton of beers this past sat night with every seat full and tables covered with beer bottles...seemed to be more gals than usual and lots of guys drinking the two beer minimum deal and buying even more for gals.  It was a good night of revenue for sure.

They have likely picked up many former patrons from the now closed Climax bar. They both had similar business models; good place for big groups and couples, a band and close to Chow Mein Charlies and the Thai chippy (now both departed).

Wasn't there some big Aussie egg-chasing match on Saturday that boosted numbers?

Yes that chestnut, like Milk next to Le Pub, that turned sour

well take a stroll down Soi 7 and so many bars that used to be busy, a few had live bands etc.  in the hey day.  And over on SOI 8  Eastiny Place, Eastiny Travel which was so good now a pigeon roost.  Pig And Whistle a long standing English Pub no more.  Simons next door no more.  Soi Made in Thailand sparse.

Geez, Pig and Whistle was sold about 8-9 years ago. New owner wasn't allowed to eat pigs so changed its name to "Big and Whistle". How cheap a sign change is that and no wonder it failed

Could the owner also not eat whistles ?

Just because they cannot eat pork , that wouldn't mean that they cannot have a sign saying "pig " on their premises

No, that was the week before and Billabong is not a sports bar so doesn't show it anyway

You guys making me wish I had spent more time in bars than I did in my visits.  Amazing that Aussie could buy such a nice looking roommate.

Name already in use, wasn't there a Pig and Whistle in Jomtien? Anyhow, the soi 7 place is now a new hotel/restaurant development.

"How much" is the only chatting up you need to do .

They go with you for the money , not because you chatted them up .

Some guys hire themselves a woman for the night and believe that they chatted them up
