I recently went to CM immigration to obtain the CoR. I am on the DTV and want to try and open a bank account and buy a motorbike in my name. They asked me the purpose for the CoR but when I said I want to buy a motorbike, she asked to see the purchase deed of the bike, to which I replied I haven't bought one yet. In that case it was not possible to get the CoR for the motorbike, she said. She could however issue me a CoR for opening a bank account and they would send it to me in 10 to 14 business days. I asked if an expedited option was available (since I read everywhere you can pay 500 baht and get it the next day) and she told me that no, cannot. I still haven't received my certificate thus far (it's been 11 business days).

A few days ago, I finally bought a motorbike. I am still quite confused though about the COR and the "purpose" that one wants it for; will it state on the COR what the its purpose is, and will the transport office refuse it when I try to transfer the motorbike, because its purpose was to open a bank account? Is it better to go back to immigration and get another certificate, even though the first one hasn't arrived yet? And why do all websites and friends here tell me that I can get it the next day for 500 baht and at the office they tell me it's not possible? Should I go at a time that it's not so busy? 😉

First up don't worry that it's been 11 days.

It will arrive.

Don't be concerned about putting down another reason for the COR.

The reason in not shown on the COR..

Old thread mentions 500b for same day process.

Hi

Thanks.

Alright, I will not request another COR then and will try to use the one that will hopefully soon arrive in order to transfer the bike as well.

Yes, all threads and websites on the CM immigration mention 500 baht for one-day service, but I asked and was told there is no such thing

You can do it with colonel visa for like 1K baht within a day, they send it by grab to your home too. Just need to send photo of copy passport and visa page via LINE.

In CM you need to know who and where to ask.

Thanks. It seems like before though, it was possible to get the expedited service at the desk at the immigration for just 500 baht. I don't know where that money went, but it might be that they changed their policy a bit ...

Maybe central festival still does that, not sure about that but remember it used to be possible to go there yourself for 500 too.

No offence but it is Letter Of Residence LOR not a CoR.

Is a COR a different thing, or did I just name it wrong?

No offence, but it is named Certificate of Residence almost everything that I've checked, including on this forum.

A COR 2 is what you get from an Amphur office to say you are still married, needed for extension purposes to show immigration. Don't belief everything you read on this forum there are many posts with misinformation.

Yes, they play games with the reason on the certificate.

If it does not address an establishment specifically some clerk will often reject it. In addition, the forms often don't have all the reasons to check there. It could have a space for banks, but not vehicles, etc. In addition, it could get rejected because a specific bank is not mentioned, etc.

The reason they do that is because they don't know what they are doing. Things become too strict in order to correct a perceived problem where none exists and it creates a wider confusion and difficulty.

No. Have a read of attached thread.

The vast majority of web sites, forum posts etc refer to "certificate of residence"

Not to be confused with similar doc for farang in Thailand with Permanent Resident status"

Why would you say that, are you new here I know exactly what the difference is between a LOR and a COR 2, you obviously don't. Guess you never need either, not married are you.

Google is your friend if you need to check.

Stop. You are wrong.

Also re your posts "COR 2"

Google COR 2 Thailand and see how that works for you.

While at it google "LOR Thailand" and see how that works out.

Then google COR Thailand.

Pic attached of AseanNow threads. Many more.

I posted link to a thread earlier.

You are confused.

You are talking about the "Kor Ror 2" form, showing you are still married.  "COR," in this context, is an abbreviation of the English words, "Certificate of Residence."

The reason in not shown on the COR..

My last two did state the reason.  One was for license renewal and the other was to open a bank account.

Since I can't read Thai, I accidentally gave the bank the one intended for DLT and they wouldn't accept it.

I applied for a CofR at CM last week. Initially I sent a mate down with the paperwork and 500B for the next day fee. He was told 10 days, seems you need to be on a list to get the express service

Went to my usual agent and got it sorted.

The reason for application ( mine is drivers license) is stated on the CofR
