Hello,

 

I drive 60km a day and my EV car is always at home during the day;

usually charged with the normal slow cable (cannot install wall charger since I am renting the house), not a problem leaving connected many hours.

 

Cost per month is quite limited, but I was wondering if I can charge using the daylight:

 

would it be possible to install some solar panels to plug to the car "directly",or need inverter / battery / others?

 

I mean using the real time output, no need storage for using electricity for house.

 

Any advise is appreciated

I wouldn't think practical, or economical if practical.  At peek time, if sunny, most you're going to get from any one panel is 500-700w per hour, and need an inverter to use.  Consider your slow charging cable is 2-3+kWh per, and you see the issue.

60km I think is around 8Kwh consumption (~35b /day, 1000b /month).

 

With 1 panel 1000W costing 1500b, chargin 8Kwh would not take 8 hours?

 

Even if I not spend much money, those 1500b could be saved in one and a half months.

 

Or you meaning other equipment is necessary?

Where are you getting 1,000W panels for 1,500 Baht??

 

A 1kW panel would generate about 3-4kWh per day of decent sunshine. It would also be about 3m x 2m and weigh ...

 

Direct EV charging (DC) from solar is an emerging technology = $$$

 

Easier would be to use a simple grid-tie inverter to supplement your grid energy usage whilst using the "granny charger".

or perhaps you should buy one and then test how many Watts it really delivers.

With the absolute maximum insolation from our local star being about 1kW per m2 that panel is 200% efficient!!!

 

Most real panels are about 20% efficient.

 

Something doesn't add up.

I really hate this kind of advertising as they put the solar industry in a bad light when they come nowhere near the advertised performance.

 

Somewhere in there is the disclaimer, not found it yet.

Definitely not a good idea.

Besides the fact that the panels alone wouldn't do the job, where would you install them? On the vehicle's roof 😜?

I'm considering doing this, and I believe you need to attach your solar panels to a series of batteries and then use an inverter to convert the batteries' DC into AC 220V to deliver the electricity to your car. You could deliver the DC directly to your car's batteries with a non-standard connection, but the car's standard connection requires AC.

I'm not an expert on this subject, but after learning about all this online, these are my recommendations.

 Every year they have a solar car challenge race in Australia.  Custom cars some built by students  travel hundreds of Klm at decent speeds. 

I hope you find a way to power you car like they do. Good luck.

The battery is DC i believe?

 

Yes, it's a question of voltage and control. Most EV packs are >300V most domestic solar is 48V.

 

There are direct solar-EV solutions available but they are relatively new and not inexpensive.

Takes about 2hrs for a 25Km charge.

Your found set up;

They show a brand, I cant find. Then they, in description say "no brand"

Xinli (electro) could find, is in servo motors, Xinleyang , as electro company, totally nothing(Alibaba)

It says 12 VDC from solar regulator and/or(?) 5 VDC.

For your car you need, Thai 240 VAC, so from regulator, it is not there.

You need inverter to 240 VAC. Then your built in charger in car will charge the batteries.

 

When all kinds of contradictions are there, then Im already to run away from it.

Sometimes even they put in totally different items and you dont get what you want.

Just had it in Temu with 2 orders. SO then you read well and then ... disappointment.

Dont forget lazada, etc are a selling platforms and anybody can sell everything, not even knowing anything about what they are selling or even care.
