I  was hoping for something more specific, with a particular consideration of similarities and proximity

Thanks!

If we haven't been to Soi Seven Beer Bar how can we suggest a similar pub? If you want a pub, free from the hassle of girls and ladyboys, but good for pub-style chat and company the Shamrock Bar on Soi Pattayaland 3 is a good bet.

Some people may not realise that you are talking about Soi 7 Beer Garden, Sukhumvit.

You’re right - thanks for the clarification.

I went to where it once was, and there’s a cannabis bar - everyone should have at least one vice that they eschew,  there was a little circuit of seedy bar-stalls that were quiet to the point of torpid morbidity; it was only I stopped in a familiar curry shop that I discovered this is a dry day.

You need help finding a bar in Bangkok? Try Sukhumvit Soi 11, Soi 11/1, Soi 7/1, Soi 4 and Soi 8. Plenty of choice.

I had some good visits to the Soi 7 bars from 2021 but the noise was extreme as bars' loud music all blaring against each other.

Never the best for a bar hop.  Maybe pop back tonight?  I've had some fun in those beer bars, they can/do get busy when they are allowed to sell beer.

I remember that place as a bit oriented. Felt like a pickup joint with people sitting around in an obvious manner.

On Soi 7...Sukumvit BKK..a group of bars on the left as you walk in from the main road. Turn left just past the first bar...walk a bit and look on the left for 69 bar....yes, that's the name.

Run by Nookie...a good friend of mine for over 7 years. If you don't want to be bother by the girls working there, just tell her. Like someone posted earlier...every bar is playing loud music, and that is annoying...but WT heck.

OP ....  in Bangkok there are many bars ....    you can tell they are bars because they will have bright lights and loud music going on.    I'm sure you must have seen one on Sukhumvit but probably didn't know it was a bar.

ask someone nearby if there is a bar near.

OP ....   did you find a bar  ?

you can tell if it's a bar or a shop,   because there'll be loud music and possibly colored lights flashing ...

if your not sure,  just ask a staff member if it's a bar or a shop.

If that was his only mistake, he got off lightly.

I went back to Soi 7 this evening, and the noise was intolerable. One bar was playing abrasive machine noise in lieu of music, but luckily two doors down it was drowned out by the cacophony from the neighbours.

Perhaps because it WAS a pick up joint.

yes ... if there was loud music then it was most likely a bar ...   there are many bars in that area,  as I mentioned before, they will have flashing lights usually and music ...

Did you see stools and patrons sitting down ?   if so,  that's an indication it's a bar.

I'm sure you've seen one before ..

Was that the freelance bar?

If I remember, they called it the Chicken Coop

Not like that place.

That was more or less the point that I was wanting to address, without crossing forum rules and discussing specifics.

The only equivalent I found was the big place over the water in Pattaya. Out behind the bar collection first place past the sewage plant at the entrance to Walking Street. Forget the name.

Never found anywhere else similar in Bkk.

It's a shame the soi 7 Beer Garden has closed as it was unique being a huge freelancer bar. While I didn't chat up the ladies, it did give a good vibe having them all there and the food was good as well.

The owner of Pattaya Beer Garden tried to replicate this concept but it never really took off that way and is only about good food now (and of course the view over the water)
