Of course that means if you’re brazen you get away with it. The cops end up with the video and maybe, it’s a long shot, they might decide something but the loss will never be recouped. I have a guess that’s how she rolls at home. So shoplifting is a thriving business now. Have a look here... Hundreds of women and children trafficked to UK to shoplift
john donson Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 maybe she learned her lesson to not do it here... in uk, or any western country, impunity is a disease...

You are maybe too used to seeing shoplifters in the UK getting away without even a slap on the wrist and the cops there aren't bothered about it either. It happens all around the world. Just in large nations they do not treat is severely unless you are caught many times.
Thingamabob Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 If she'd tried this in Singapore she'd be in big trouble. She'd likely get off free in the UK . In Thailand she will likely face deportation but no other penalty so long as she pays the store and compensates the police.
shackleton Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Does not mention if she was a tourist or living here 🤔 What ever stealing is a crime Fine her 😱
harryviking Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 People should read about "Bangkok Hilton" before they come to Thailand! Just so they know what they can expect if being an utter idiot! Some people just have to low intelligence to understand much at all.

Guderian Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 In much of the UK now, shoplifting is regarded by the authorities as a victimless crime and therefore not worth pursuing. For insurance purposes, stores have had to to warn their staff not to confront shoplifters as they may be high on drugs or carrying a knife and get violent. Even when shops have clear CCTV footage of the culprit and the act, the cops refuse to take any action as they claim they're too busy. But that's no different from having clear CCTV footage of someone burgling your home, plod will give you a crime number to make a claim on insurance, but they're extremely unlikely to investigate it any further. This dumb hussy probably didn't even realise that it's still a serious crime in Thailand, thought it was the same as at home in Cleveland and just waltzed in, saw something she fancied and then tried to waltz back out with it again. Blame the British politicians, police, lawyers and the rest of the great and the good who condone this sort of behaviour, it's as much their fault as hers. 1 2

Polaky Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 If she was Russian she would get off with a wai, but being British she is in all sorts of trouble, especially denying the charges.

Dexxter Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Do they really need two high ranking officers, Pol. Lt. Col. Kachakorn Saisasawat and Pol. Lt. Col. Nattawit Wasikanon, to handle a minor shoplifting case?
George FmplesdaCosteedback Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Of course in the UK shoplifting goods worth under 500 pounds (about 21,500 baht) is no longer a crime. Tweet something hurtful or disrespectful about a certain section of the newly arrived UK citizens though and you will get 20+ months in jail. Amazing UK? 1 1
kwaussie Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 You do the crime you do the time, quick deportation and ruin her holiday should make her realize the error of her ways. 1
