Chinese Driver Alleges Hit-and-Run After Pattaya Tunnel Car Crash

In the heart of Pattaya, a late-night vehicle collision has raised questions after a Chinese driver claimed his car was sideswiped, causing him to crash into a barrier. The incident occurred on October 28th at approximately 10:06 PM within the Pattaya Central tunnel.

Mr. Sun Hao, 41, driving a white Toyota Vios, sustained minor injuries in the crash. The vehicle, severely damaged, obstructed the inbound lane towards Sattahip. While receiving initial medical assistance from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center, Mr. Sun alleged that an unidentified car struck his vehicle, making him lose control.

Authorities, including Pattaya police and rescue volunteers, promptly arrived at the crash site. As part of their investigation, they are meticulously examining CCTV footage to verify Mr. Sun's account and locate the alleged hit-and-run driver, who fled the scene immediately after the accident. This development has left locals mulling over road safety and the necessity for heightened vigilance against reckless driving, reported The Pattaya News.

They got CCTV down there? That is in working order?  Surprising, as keeping the lights in the underpass working has proven  to be too much effort for many years.

Thais are always 'mulling over' stuff, but never acting on it.  Getting a police force would be a step in the right direction.  If CCTV works after an event, why not as part of a prevention drive?  Every time I am forced on to the roads I witness 100 offences an hour but never any police.

If he got sideswiped on the side of car that is shown in the photo.... it does not look like the side has any damage other than what would  happen hitting a barrier.

There are loads of cameras in that tunnel. Why is there uncertainty in the story.

Have you ever seen police enforce laws other than checkpoints to collect money instantly? Albeit, even those checkpoints allow Thais to get away with violations as long as there are foreigners near that will pay quickly. I actually got ticketed driving side by side with a Thai through a yellow light.

They tried quoting me some law that yellow is the same as red haha... I know it was a scam but they did not even bother stopping the Thai that was next to me.

Haven't seen much of that even for a while.... did see a couple of cops waving over tourists on motorcycles without helmets near Pattaya police station, but I presumed it was fund collection for the Friday night, after work booze up.
