The reason I asked for that particular window seat as that 777-200ER seat configuration angled slightly as the cabin tapered towards the rear so you got an extra couple of inches of legroom for free. I gurned at the Chief Purser about the relocation, but she told me I was wrong and, apart from exit rows, the seat pitch was the same from front to rear of coach. I asked her to go check, but she gave me the "I've flown hundreds of thousands of miles on a 777" argument, so I left her to her delusion. A few hours later, she came up to me and apologized as there was a seat-pitch change on that row on 777-200ER but not on the regular 777-200's, and she was unaware of it. So for compo, I got a couple of glasses of port from the Biz class section after dinner. On deplaning, she handed my a wallet with some discount vouchers that could be used for lounge access, duty-free purchases and discounts on tickets.

 

KLM got worse after that.

 

we live and learn, flew LKM, never again, flew finnair, never again.

 I usually try to stick with airlines where I can book a seat and actually get it, especially for long flights.

Last time I flew to Swampy ( but not from Gatwick) but from OZ  I landed in the new terminal and had to take the train to passport control and luggage claim any Aussies on here can confirm that?

One time I tried Business Class Flights to Europe and was surprised at how easy it was to find a decent deal. It felt like a big upgrade—way more legroom and actually getting the seat I chose without any last-minute switches.

These flights have been absolutely rammed every time wheels up

I was lucky enough for many years to be able to obtain ID90 staff discount tickets on BA care of my brother to Bangkok

 

Treated like a king in Economy ....I've never understood the angst against our national carrier

 

Somehow a complete internet myth this last 25 years that BA are crap has somehow turned into an internet fact instead

I see no point in flying with an airline that uses old and knackered seats and cannot offer adequate customer service. Simply upgrading my return flight from London would have cost nothing and solved the issue.

To quote them from their very first response to me, 'we realize the seat is a very important part of our service.'

Yeah, it does seem like both Qatar and Emirates have been shifting more flights away from Gatwick lately, which makes you wonder if there’s something going on with Heathrow. Gatwick is traditionally the bucket-and-spade airport, which  may also reflect on Thailand's global position as a holiday destination.

Anyone have cabin interior shots for this B777-200? The last time (and I mean the last time), I flew BA from BKK to London it was a B777-200 and the interior was seriously outdated! Be very surprised if BA invested any money in a cabin refresh on such an old aircraft! 😄

As I said earlier in the thread I find the bashing of our national airline absurd

If you're in a aircraft at 35.000 that goes Tech there is absolutely no other airline I would want to be on to rectify the situation (I'd include Qantas in that)

 

Flew on China Eastern out of Gatwick couple weeks ago its not just a "holiday" airport....flight was over 95% full through to Shanghai
