I found 2 brief comments in other threads saying it is not required for Non-B which I already know. They were not mentioning the limited timeframe specifically.

I wonder though if I will get any grief (from immigration in particular) entering with less than 3 weeks left?

Yes I have a re-entry permit, work permit etc.
