But you want it fixed in 4 months.

I am simply asking how the new house building programme is getting on.

I don't expect it to be complete in four months .

I am asking whether Labour will keep to their election  promises or just forget about what they promised

They'd love to do it but the Tories left a 22bn hole in the finances and they need that 22bn for carbon capture  obviously many newly formed consultancies will have to be paid also.

I wonder how thai people cope, with no handout

the moo baan I lived for 15 years, saw rent increases from 25.000 baht just after covid, to 40.000 baht now, for exactly the same old houses

By moving in with others where there is little to no privacy. Anything split 4 ways becomes affordable.

Redirecting money from supporting rents to building affordable homes makes sense.

Far too much tax payer’s money is being piped through to the pockets of buy to let landlords.

Time to build the affordable homes the nation needs and stop funding private profits from public need.

I wouldnt live next to "affordable" housing if you paid me..........its council houses disguised under a trendy name, theyll end up being  dumps and demolished in 30 years, rinse and repeat, thats whats been done since the 50's council house by me  built in the 70's demolished as slums even though well built.  Dont see any privately owned  houses demolished  in such a short time frame. Its money down the drain, if they dont own it and get cheap rent they couldnt care less about it. Its not the houses its the type of people who live in them.

Time will tell.

And 4 months is very clearly not enough time.

That seems like a broad pejorative generalization.

if they stemmed the flow illegal immigration, there would be less to house and more houses for UK citizens in need.

You think these people who cannot afford to pay rent can afford to buy homes?

House prices are astronomical in the UK. Largely due to a massive supply and demand issue caused by the influx of huge numbers of immigrants.

What they are doing is removing much needed assistance for low income indigenous people and handing it out to (often illegal) immigrants.

Once again, betraying the British people, especially poor ones.

Wow Jonny you're quick out of the blocks to weave your racial bigotry into the subject.

You're wrong of course, as usual.

The reason for Britain's housing crisis definitely goes back to Thatcher's "right to buy" policy. The catchy 3 word mantra resonated with Sun readers and was understandably popular.

The part of that policy that was just downright wrong was that local authorities were not allowed to use  the money from these sales to replace the housing stock. She knew full well where this would lead the nation and here we are the world's 6th largest economy with 10s of thousands living on the streets while "buy to let" landlords prosper.

Back to GB "news" for your next tranche of far right drivel Jonny.

So it was all Thatcher and millions of immigrants coming in had no effect?

They get moved into social housing as and when it becomes available. Also due to benefit caps for UK citizens it more profitable to let housing to Government subsidised immigrants. Immigration is A BUSINESS.

Precisely.

Government policy directly favoring the buy-to-let sector, followed by buy-to-let landlords complaining about ‘Government Control’ and moaning because the Government is freezing the rate at which tax payers’ money is being piped into their pockets.

They need to stem the flow of legal immigration, which is much higher numbers.

Low-income renters in the UK are expected to face mounting financial challenges due to the government's decision to freeze housing benefits, despite escalating rent prices.

They need the money to house illegal immigrants and to send weapons to Ukraine and Israel.

Well they do need the billions of UK£ to give to Ukraine and to pay all inclusive stay for the Ukrainians who come over to Europe or the UK...so the others not getting their social housing, will have to leave England and more will come to Thailand leading to more tatoos, pub brawls and drunks all over.

It is actually less than 4000 people  who live on the streets in the UK and many of those choose that lifestyle as they don't like the restrictions of living in hostels

We need to solve the problem .

Need to look ahead

Rather than doing nothing and saying its all someone else's fault .

Problems need to be solved, rather just doing nothing and trying to apportion blame for the problem

I do believe that the claim of a 22 Billion black hole has been disproved and shown to have beena  lie by Labour .

They made the claim up so they can blame everything on the Tories and the imaginary black hole

Surely not, Reeves said she would go through it line by line, but we are still waiting. (only joking, of course it was).

I think there will be a shortfall going forward as revenue is not raised as they expected from taxing business via NI. The problem with the Left is that they think the economy is static and not dynamic and will stand for higher taxes, rather than ceasing to invest. "business can pay for the NHS" will ring hollow.

The way Labour has broken most of their election promises since gaining power, who really cares what they promise at this point?

May be best not to mention broken promises ...

After freezing pensioners they've now gone after low income renters.

 😄

Did you miss this bit, "This freeze extends a trend seen over the past decade, with the Conservative Party having previously frozen LHA for seven of the last twelve years, before briefly increasing rates earlier in 2024".

I wonder if 3 of those other 5 years happened to be the election years of '15, '17 and '19? If so, I'm sure that it was purely coincidental.

Many landlords have sold off their properties are are now investing in other businesses , being a landlord isnt a good business to be in these days

Massive amounts of money given to Ukraine. High inflation all over Europe and UK due to the US led sanctions against Russia that are plainly destroying growth and economy in Europe-UK (thanks to America!!). Consequently, governance and the UE parliament in Bruxelles are trying their best and looking for new schemes to generate cash flow,  by increasing taxes or in cutting welfare for their own citizens,
