A fire broke out on the morning of November 8, at Suan Dok Temple, a royal temple in Mueang District, Chiang Mai, causing significant damage to a two-story monk’s residence. The fire, which authorities believe was caused by an electrical short circuit, was reported around 07:30.

Upon receiving the alert, Chiang Mai Governor Nirut Pongsitthithaworn instructed Deputy Governor Weerapong Ritrod to oversee the situation on-site. Firefighters from the Chiang Mai Municipality quickly dispatched fire engines to the scene, containing the blaze within 40 minutes.

One monk sustained minor burns injuries from the flames. Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire originated on the upper floor of the wooden residence, which was nearly destroyed, along with all belongings.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and assessing the extent and costs of the damage.
