you do not need "sandwich" as name to help search these days
that is very outdated SEO info

as for branding, you want a 2 syllable word
now you could put sandwich after that if you want,
for a domain or something but it is not essential or beneficial these days
but a 2 syllable word is what is easiest for people to remember
hence, goo-gle, e-bay, face-book etc
or you could call the place "san-wit" could be suiting for here

as you state you will open a few, you want the brand to be rememberable and to roll off the tongue
now for SEO, the best thing you can do is create a unique 2 syllable word
which is why spelling mistakes are very common

now if you take my example above of "Sanwit"
you can buy the domain sanwit.shop for $2
and only other domain you compete with is sanwit.pl when someone search for sanwit
or you could change to zanwit.shop which will likely have zero other similar named domains

Do you really need a domain name and WWW for such a shop?

I doubt it.

People walk by or drive by - no WWW required.

People look for a sandwich shop in Google Maps - no WWW required.

People order from one of the online app - no WWW required.

I am sure it won't hurt to have a domain and WWW. But I don't think it's essential.

Never said it was essential..............
but from the OP...
"t needs to have the word "Sandwich" in it to help with Grab and Google search"
So i assume he wants a domain (or very least a presence on Gmaps) as he said "google search"
hence my comments
please do show me where i said it is essential he has a domain for a sandwich shop?
it is obviously not essential, however this day and age a website adds value to any business
even if just a 1 page scroller info site, what rock are you living under?

I avoid places that emphasize cheap.

Expensive Eric's Sandwiches?

They had a news report some time ago about a Chinese Restaurant- takeaway  which had named itself

"The nearest Chinese Restaurant "

And thats what your going to get when you google--no matter where you live.

It's called reality. There is a life out there outside the online world.

I guess after a while the first question on the phone by the restaurant team was: Where do you call from?

Reality is, everyone under 40 and many over 40 have a phone glued to their hand.
and here you are replying online to posts you don't fully read all day.
websites benefit every business these days as somewhere potential customers can get vital information directly
and as mentioned, i never said websites are essential.
go and not read someone else's post to argue with, ONLINE.

Obviously, I do things online. But I am not looking for a sandwich shop online.

Someone can do A online but B offline. It's not that difficult.

There is a guy in the UK who has done exactly that - Max Halley. Very successful he is too.

Often appears on Sunday Brunch on channel 4. Has had a Sunday Times Top 10 bestselling cookbook

So my understanding of a butty is a sandwich with hot filling, like chip butty, bacon butty etc.

Do you have any others that would fall into the butty category?

"Chip Butties" as a restaurant name, just does not roll off the tongue like "Butties"
you can use words however you please,
for my myself and where i grew up a "butty" is a chip butty served in a roll, not sliced bread, as that is a sarny
but to assume you can read my mind to tell me someone has done exactly what i was thinking about is just daft
especially when i did not go into any details at all.
a sandwich shop is not a unique concept, its a sandwich shop

He is a bit more than "just a guy with a sandwich shop".

I don't think he would have had a top selling book, appearing regularly on TV and being on the front cover of UK magazines if he was knocking out a few chip butties. I think he is a bit beyond that.

By the way, you can get chip butties in fish and chip shops amongst other things.

correct he is a celebrity with a sandwich shop
his sandwich shop did not make him famous
him being a tv celeb is the biz plan

also, not <deleted> sherlock, thanks for pointing out the obvious

Good luck with your new venture. Not a good track record here.

Deli shop went down recently.

Bob's Burgers at Pratumnak never got off the ground.Spent a fortune doing up a shop on Soi 6, megga advertising saying best Burgers etc but never opened.

Lots of money down the drain

Yes it did. Word of mouth regarding his sandwich shop got him the TV gigs etc.

You are a bloke who thought about opening a sandwich (or butty) shop but didn't. Way to go......

I think its still in business...it was just before the plandemic which was the last time I noticed it....I remember reading on this here forum about the ingredients/sauces being brought in directly from the US of A in the  owners suitcase 🍔

Is the new sandwich shop open?

Would love to have a good sandwich when in Bangkok.

Would be great to have a look at the menu too.

Not yet sorry, first shop will be on the Darkside Pattaya and we will open on Grab before we actually open the shop itself, to judge demand and make sure we have the menu right.

That should happen in about 2 weeks from now.

The shop will be called The Sandwich Co. - went with simple in the end....

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions.
