I’m in Thailand on a marriage extension but I’m getting a divorce soon. There’s only two months left on my extension and my plan is to change my visa after the divorce. 
 

Once divorced, In regards to my visa is there something I need to do like contact immigration etc? I’m assuming my extension will not be valid anymore and I’ll have X days to leave the country or change the visa etc? 
 

Timing is a bit poor as I’m waiting for my new passport which will come in 2-3 weeks and I’d like to have my new visa in that passport to avoid some hassle.

Upon divorce your permission of stay ends.

Seems your current permission of stay based on marriage will expire prior to divorce.

Suggest that you encourage wife (still married) to attend immigration with you and change from extension based on marriage to retirement.

You would need 800k in bank account in your name only prior to application.

If you need to buy time you could obtain 60 day extension "to visit wife" 

Assistance from current wife often gets down to baht

Failing that...exit Thailand with border bounce and reenter visa exempt and start over with visa exempt to non O retirement process.

Upon divorce, I thought you got like 7 days to leave the country or to apply for a new visa? And that you have an obligation to notify immigration about the divorce? 

Just wanna make sure I do this right so I don’t mess up my chances getting a new visa. Unfortunately retirement visa is not an option due to my age.

Assuming you do not have a reentry permit, you can just exit Thailand and your permission of stay is gone.

The non O based on marriage single entry is also used (gone) 

You may end up just doing a border bounce to give yourself time to consider next steps

Your extension ends on the date of your divorce. If you qualify, you can apply for a new extension based on e.g. retirement, or you can apply for 7 days to leave the country but you do not get the 7 days automatically.

He can just exit Thailand provided he does not have a reentry permit.

He is currently still married.

Since you can't change your visa to a Retirement Visa, then you will have to leave Thailand once you have got divorced. I think, within 7 days afterwards. Do any of the other visas appeal to you?

OP, is under 50 yrs.

The Op did not mentioned if a kid is in the mixed, either through marriage, meaning, the kid was born after you all got married and yours, or legally, before marriage, yours or not, via the court process.

If a kid is in the mixed, again, and yours; you might be able to get and extension of stay to visit your kid. It is the same process as a marriage extension, but some immigration department require the kid to be resident with the foreigner. Others might be best to shed some light on this. 

If going via the Court, it takes awhile to get that final paper, that the divorce case is final. The Ampur requires that paper before they can issue your Divorce Certificate and Register your divorce. They also want to see a copy of the foreigner's passport in Thai.  Your Embassy stamp on that copy, this is before converting to Thai.

I reckon you can show immigration 

the divorce record, and let them know that you will exit Thailand, but need more than (7) days to get the Court paper to get your Divorce Certificate from the Ampur which is vital to you, see what they say.

 

I suggest you put the divorce on hold and extend your marriage until you can get some other type of visa... 😉

OP only has two months remaining on permission of stay.

As posted earlier if doesn't have reentry permit he can exit Thailand (border bounce) and enter visa exempt with 60 day stamp. 

Then consider DTV

The extension ends the day of divorce, so must leave that day, or go to immigration with divorce-papers that day and pay 1900 Baht to get 7 more days.

multiple entry visa in thai embassy somewhere , not affected by divorce status later...
