Oddly the person who is said to be the subject of this police visit is not named, so there no way of checking the veracity of the claims.

Telegraph journalist Allison Pearson.  Allegedly a comment about Hamas/Israel/demonstrations.

This is exactly the sort of non sense we Americans are trying to evict. Perhaps electing Trump will give other nations the courage to fight back on this kind of stupidity. You're welcome.

You speak the imperial truth, however I think it is too late for the UK! It's very sad!

What on earth are you talking about ?

How can she be found guilty when she hasn’t been charged with any offence, and the police themselves are calling it a non crime.

It might help if you read the article before making puerile comments.

From the article

"Recently, Essex Police released a statement saying my post is now being investigated as a criminal matter under Section 17 of the Public Order Act 1986. "

No they didn't.

The politicians that make the laws might have done, but the UK people don't make the law, politicians do.

As for the OP

Why blame the police in the first place?

They are only doing their job as laid down.

Where have I heard that before, 'i was only doing my job, oh yes the Germans in WW2

Oh dear. I fear my home country, the UK, is heading for deep trouble...

It is looking like Orwell's 1984 is here in 2024.  Wait until 2025 and the UK totalitarian government may make the transition complete.
"Newspeak" "'non-crime hate incident' (NCHI)"  and "Thoughtcrime" are now realities.

The Telegraph really is becoming a comic.

What are you gibbering about ?

The Journalist name is Allison Pearson, she wrote the original article

Here is the latest follow up article

Quote

A police force has been accused of an “appalling” attack on free speech after launching an investigation into a Telegraph journalist.

Essex Police is facing a backlash from critics, including Boris Johnson, over its investigation into Allison Pearson for allegedly stirring up racial hatred in a social media post last year.

In the UK, if you come home to find your 12 year old son being raped by a masked migrant and when he attacks you, you beat him to death, you go to prison for a hate crime.

You guys need a revolution

The worst part is that alot of british posters here still dont get it and tell Americans we should be more like them!

Not quite

If you beat him to death in your home, you will be charged, tried and probably acquitted.

If you chase him 500. metres up the street, then beat him to death. You will be charged, tried and probably convicted of manslaughter.

I agree, the UK does need a revolution, or at least drastic action taken before it is too late ( Although, it may well be too late )

Says someone that gets all their UK news from either the Guardian or the farcically named Independent.

So true. There is nothing you can do to make Lefties understand that they haven't found the truth, they have just found the other sides propaganda. We have one member, a very simple type, who thinks it is all the truth because he read it in an award winning newspaper.

I think it is pretty obvious it is Alison Pearson. The note at the bottom of the article  says based on a report - which likely means altered beyond copyright applying.

The original article says who.

It is not the Telegraph, it is a synopsis generated by AI that has to be vague to avoid copyright infringement.

You are talking absolute garbage again. I have already asked you what it is she said or wrote, but you haven’t got a clue have you.

How can you want her re-educated when you haven’t any idea what she said, and how it was offensive; stop making an utter fool of yourself.

Likewise, how can anyone complain about the police visiting her without knowledge of the actual facts relating to her alleged online posts.

Who decides what is hate speech and what is an opinion? Apart from that for hate speech to have any affect it must have a general consensus within the public, a consensus that is ignored by the authorities.

The law defines the difference, the courts decides if the law has been broken.

"the law'' is not an entity, somebody has determined what the law is, after all somebody once determined the laws on the rightfulness of slavery, on blasphemy, on the death penalty, "the law is an ass" comes to mind.

Nevertheless, I did answer the question you asked.
