Foreign Group Detained in Thailand for Illegal Residency Bust

In a substantial move against illegal immigration, Thai police have apprehended a group of 20 foreigners for unlawfully residing in the country. The group, consisting of 18 Chinese men and two Lao women, was arrested in the Sangkhla Buri district of the western province of Kanchanaburi, as per local law enforcement.

The arrests came as a result of an ongoing investigation into the forceful entry carried out by a Chinese gang across the border between Thailand and neighbouring Myanmar. Using natural channels in this border region, the activity raised alarm, spurring a joint operation between local police and border patrol units.

According to Police Colonel Paitoon Sriwilai, the chief at Sangkhla Buri Police Station, the group was located and picked up as they engaged in suspicious behaviour during an area survey conducted yesterday, November 12. Officers found the individuals without any form of passports or identification documents, immediately raising doubts regarding their legal status within Thailand.

Colonel Sriwilai remarked on the group's unusual conduct, stating, "The suspects were observed displaying suspicious behaviour in the border area."

Following their detainment, the group has been charged with illegal entry into Thailand. The suspects were then moved to the Sangkhla Buri Police Station, where further legal action will be taken against them. This event reflects ongoing efforts by authorities to tackle immigration violations and maintain the integrity of Thailand's borders.

Those pesky Chinese.

And a big cheer for TM-30 and 90 day reports.  :stoner:

This is about illegal entry, not "illegal residency".

Evasive answers?

Putting your hands in your pockets and whistling?
