Sending goods from Chiang Mai to the UK

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for a company in Chiang Mai that can pack some personal possessions and arrange for it to be sent by air to the UK?

Probably only be 2 or 3 boxes of stuff , maybe 100Kg, but all the sites I find using Google seem to be commercial (lots of stuff) and mostly want to send it by sea.

I take it that nobody has needed to airfreight goods from Chiang Mai to the UK.

I went out to the airport and inquired and the head of Customs said he that there was one shipment in 1978 but nothing since then so you are very close to correct.

Thanks, carry on the plane best but I will be over weight. Excess baggage for 30 kg is around £1200 or £600 if booked in advance. Also I have to get it to the airport.

Post office is between £150 and £400 for 20 kg maximum.

There are two firms that will collect and deliver a suitcase up to 30kg for around £230.

Sea freight was stupid, B26,000 plus £500 in UK - think a full container is only a bit more.

Hope this information helps others.

just did a bit of a search and the above seems high by 3X or more but I did not check 100%

I send a 25-30kg box, air freight to the UK every couple of weeks.

Use EMS at the Post Office, 30kg max weight and some dimensional constraints, but the price was only THB 10,300 for 30kg (£240).  Pack yourself & drop off at a Thai Post Office.  It gets delivered by Parcelforce in the UK, with no extra charge (if personal effects), fully tracked, and takes 10-14 days normally.

Let me know if you find anything better than this as that would be interesting.

Just out of curiosity, what do you send ?

UPS works out cheaper for shipping large items, while USPS is cheaper for sending small items

Sorry I should of said Thai Post, then once it hits the USA it goes into the USPS system. I have sent a lot of packages using Thai Post with NO issues at all.

Interesting but the OP wants to send to the UK not the USA

But could be the same.
