Trump's Cabinet of horrors exposes his totalitarian drift

Opinion only, calm down.

If things do turn out the way some are predicting in the worse way, eventually there may be no long term places for bugging out.

Say what you want about America, it may be true or not, but if the world's giant paperweight is all of sudden taken away, every nut-job "glorious leader" out there is going to start getting dumb ideas with delusions of grandeur.

I have two reasons for staying out of the US until the dust settles on the absolute disaster and real American carnage that will be 47.

One is that I'm not a fan of dictatorships, where anyone who criticizes the weak man is "deranged", an "enemy within", and will be the target of a "military tribunal" or alleged kiddie-diddler Gaetz' proxy retribution-ist (All nominees will be installed via recess appointments, so spineless Repubs need not fear a mean Tweet or being "primaried"). I also know the economy is going to collapse with an abject incompetent---the clown who inherited a growing economy and 4.8% UE and left his successful successor a Recession and 6.8% UE, who was the first POTUS since Hoover to leave office with fewer Americans working than when he entered, and who even before Covid produced the lowest GDP growth since the end of WWII, who at least had a few guardrails as 45, but will have none as 47---at the helm of the economic Titanic. On the plus side for his cult, there might be a couple of strawberry-picking jobs, at least in the early stages of the Administration, where their lack of education will not be an impediment to 'success' and the 'Merikan Dream. Get your Moonpies and RC Cola while you can!

The second reason is with the shutting down of the FBI (per Elon and Vivek, at the request of the crybaby who thinks he should be able to steal thousands of highly classified documents and pay no price) and with Tulsi as DNI, I know the intel community's best are leaving and bugging out of the US. The US WILL face a major terrorist attack in the next few years (I expect BOTH a dirty bomb and a bioterror weapon, as the combo of no US intel service of any skill, plus a total lack of liaison sharing makes the US an easy target), transnational crime will find a new home, kiddie diddlers and kiddieporn fans will have no FBI to stop them, serial killers---you know, great guys like Hannibal Lecter---will only have to fool donut-munching local cops, foreign intel services will recruit clandestine assets in every govt department, China and France will recruit clandestine assets in every cutting edge AI/quantum computing/materials science/etc. corporation, and drugs will flood in not over or under 52 miles of non-Mexican funded wall, but straight through the ports. Oh, and we'll be at war with Iran, because 45 wanted to do that before the 2020 election (and he wanted to attack China after he lost, per Gen Milley, as 45 assumed a war would allow him to declare an emergency and stay in power), and because 47 will not want to have a military under his command and NOT attack SOMEBODY, as he thinks that will make him less than the bloated, cowardly girlyman he is.

47 will blame Biden, MSNBC, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, George Soros, Taylor Swift, etc., and his House and Senate, along with his cult members in this Forum, will say "Nobody could have seen all this coming" (you know, like Covid, where he was warned by the agency as early as Nov 2019).

And most important, the people will have gotten that for which they asked. Yes, elections DO have consequences.

I'll be in my bugout location, sitting back and enjoying a case of '97 Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino along with a heaping plate of schadenfreude.

Now all of his cult members here can come back in 4 years (if you are still alive, especially those on a USG pension who---if they still get it---will be paid in worthless USDs) and laugh at those of us who never drank the Kool-Aid and were never fooled either by painfully transparent 45/47 or Nigerian 419 scammers.

Remember, though, that he who laughs last, laughs best.

Danderman, wherever you are, I tip my glass to you! The cult, like the dinosaurs, simply could not see the asteroid coming.

Just for you.  USA!  USA!  USA!

It's ironic. Trump is picking those that are highly critical of governmental bureaucracy and overreach. They want less government, with less power.

This is not typical of a totalitarian, authoritarian, or fascistic dictator - quite the opposite, in fact.

If anybody thinks that a dictator of any ilk wants less power and actively invites his supporters to strip government of their authority, cognitive dissonance is strong in you.

The government should fear the people. Elon, Vivek, Gaetz, Gabbard et al, bring it on! :coffee1:

totally agree.  I have read portions of the Projec 2025 - it is not a new proposal but one started 50 years ago by the Republicans to try to move the government back to a conservative state.  I agree that there is way too much waste, fraud, over manned and useless offices that would be better served (for the citizens) if the individual states took on those positions.  But, those people put in charge via the cabinet position must be well versed in the mission of said activity, but realize that currently the positions seemed to be given to those who actively supported Trump.  If the Congress goes along and all these folks are approved for their assignment, then IMHO we the citizens are &^*%$$$, possibly for the foreseeable future.  But, I hope all is not in vain and that most of the problem areas are fixed as they are really out of control at this time IMHO.  Good luck to all and enjoy cooler weather maybe but TIT so...

Which of the appointments do you believe are significantly unqualifies, and why?

Which of the appointments do you believe are qualified?

Why would any Republican President appoint someone that did not actively support them against a far-left opponent?

You mention problem areas that are out of control, but all the people running the show are Biden appointments that were approved but the Senate. Were these people not supposed to be all highly credentialed and experienced people?

To be clear, the same people that are attacking the appointments, are the same people that attack

Trump, and that do not support Trump's policy positions.

This is one of the things I hate about the Electoral College.  You look at that map, almost all red, and, if you had to guess you might think that Trump won 90% of the vote.  My goodness, RED everywhere!  The reality is, you win a county or a state by 1 vote and you get red on the map.   He won the popular vote decisively, just as Clinton did in 2016 and Biden did in 2020.   But, you look at the EC map and, as I said, you'd think the vote was 90% to 10% when in reality it was 48% to 51%.

My opinion is anything that the left gets upset about with Trump is a good sign that he’s doing what is right.
The problem with the left is that when they attain a little power they lose self control and composure and spiral out of control and try to gobble up the entire cake and get under the delusion that everyone is on board. Take one example of many, DEI shoved down everyone’s throat and pushing it on grade school kids, rational people are sick of it.
The design of these appointees is to put a stop of the incisive psychopathy nonsense that exists in the government that was implemented by Obama. The more the left flips out and goes berserk the more it reinforces that these are good choices, the voters have a few axes to grind and Trump is getting ready to sling them, so get used to it. So let’s hope the left is in full disagreement with every single choice.

You don't think trump will attempt to abuse his power as he did last time he was in power? You will be seriously disillusioned

Totalitarianism seeks dominion over the individual to the point where individuality is erased. That’s what happened to the Republican Party. Individuals have looked the same, talked the same, acted the same and thought the same for a long time. (The men sometimes literally dress the same as Donald Trump, with a blue suit, a long red tie.) After the election, however, Republican behavior has finally been totalized.

Totalitarianism also seeks to dominate the individual’s mind by going to war against facts, reason, science and any useful meaning of the word “proof.” In normal times, pre-Trump, we could expect in the Senate a spirited debate over a president-elect’s cabinet nominations, beginning with whether they’re qualified. Such debate is going to be impossible now, because “being qualified” is a meaningless term.

Quite the opposite, it's very typical for a dictator to concentrate power in himself and that involves dismantling government power.

Nonsense.  The small population states are already well-protected by having the same number of senators as a big state like California.  Plus representative(s) in the House based on state population.

Try not to take potshots at Trump's nominations of his cabinet but you can ignore the facts. His AG has been charged with having sex with underage girls and trafficking. His health czar is a vaccine denier. National defense is in the hands of a Sunday news reporter. UN ambassador talk about withdrawing from the UN. The Secretary of State will have a hard time talking to China. And the big mahoney is a convicted felon. That's a Maga world of bizareness.

Are you aware more people have died from vaccines than from eating McDonalds hamburgers?

Are you aware that the vast majority of people with tans or spend time in the sun do not develop melanoma?

Are you aware of the benefits of vitamin D and the relationship to moderate sun exposure?

This topic is about cabinet appointments that need (short of recess appointments) Senate confirmation and, for right now, the ones putting at least a verbal damper on that are Republicans.

The GOP now has a slim Senate majority and these folks, down the road, will be essential to pass any legislation that Trump can't ram through with an executive order. Edited by jerrymahoney

As far as I know, only one GOP Senator has come out and said they would not support one appointment.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), who was elected Republican leader this week, hasn’t ruled out recess appointments, but he has also acknowledged they could be procedurally difficult to achieve if there is enough GOP opposition.

“All this is a process. But I don’t think any of those things are necessarily off the table. I think we have to have all the options on the table,” Thune told Fox News.

“And these nominees deserve their day in court. They deserve a hearing, a confirmation hearing, an opportunity to be vetted,” he added. “And the Senate will perform its constitutional role under advise and consent.”
