I think this is more a BS display of grandstanding by the US ( and France/ UK if they are also joining in ), as given the cost of the things I can't see an unlimited supply heading to Ukraine. IMO it's just part of the preparation for negotiations, rather than any attempt to win the war for Ukraine.

With the propaganda reversing from "never stop till Ukraine wins" to "let's negotiate" there are going to be a lot of boys dying to get facts on the ground before the fat lady sings.

An ignorant comment. This is a move from a lame duck president war hawk that edges the world closer to WW III and can quite easily be seen as trying to railroad any chance Trump has of finding a peaceful solution. ATACM's will make a difference for sure but their simply won't be enough to stop and reverse Russia's gains. It will push back the Su-34's release point of their glide bombs in some areas which is now in Russian held territory but again there won't be enough of them and will certainly do nothing to stop drone attacks. As it is Russia is winning this protracted attritional war. The use of ATACMs into Russian territory will slow down the advance and will interrupt supply but won't stop it. The war needs to be stopped and this lame duck at the 11th hour of being in office has just thrown fuel onto the fire.

From what I know the ATACM need starlink to guide them. Musk could very easily make a geo-fence.  The missiles won't mean a thing if Trump isn't on board. Because Trump essentially controls their entire communications they will instantly know of any launch.

Big tactical mistake for Ukraine to go into Kursk. The eastern border is much more important and needs the troops. The Russians are steadily moving west albeit bit by bit.

Do you remember the Maginot Line? You're suggesting that Ukraine should have poured massive defense effort into the most fortified area. Instead, those the Sun Zhou method and went for the weak point. At this stage I'd say the Kursk region is more important to Russia than the Donbas is to Ukraine.

The most fortified area you speak of is under great pressure from a constant movement west by the Russians. I think you need to go and have a look at some of the war maps. Kursk has no real tactical value. This was a strategic gamble not a tactical move and it takes troops away from the eastern border which is slowly but surely moving west.

It's managed to take 50,000 Russian troops away from other regions that weren't there before. That's the reason for the authorization.

The reason is that the Kursk region is an important buffer zone to secure Russia's West border from incursions which are going to keep happening as long as Russia holds Ukrainian territory. 40k troops plus logistics is not pocket money even for the Russians.
