UPDATE

Technicians Admit to Altercation, Claim Self-Defense

Two men, identified only as Manuchchai, 30, and Jakkrit, 28, arrived at Muang Pattaya police station to report the assault incident. Both men, technicians working at a South Pattaya entertainment venue, admitted to assaulting the tourist but alleged they acted in self-defense after the Briton became aggressive.

According to Mr. Manuchchai, the British tourist had been drinking heavily at a bar on Soi Bua Khao. Unable to secure a taxi, the men volunteered to drive him home in the early hours of November 19. However, the tourist reportedly became loud and aggressive, attempting to attack them.

"We tried to calm him down, but he refused to listen and forced us to turn into the wrong lane," Mr. Manuchchai explained. "When we pulled over, he struck our truck, causing damage. He started a fistfight with us. Things escalated, and we traded punches. After the incident, we drove away, not expecting the police would be looking for us. We want to assert our innocence. We were attacked first despite our good intentions to help."

Police are reviewing security footage from the area to determine the sequence of events and ensure a fair investigation.

Police will continue to investigate the incident, interviewing all parties involved and analysing CCTV footage to establish accountability.

It sounds like the two Thai guys were interviewed together, and I'm willing to bet if they had been interviewed separately cracks and inconsistencies in their account of what happened would likely have emerged.

Every drunk is a fool

I would disagree with that.
many of us are “functional drinkers”.

Not all of us though, this plonker obviously isn’t.

Nothing wrong with having a drink.

Drunk 55 to 65 old man. Your typical "man baby" that finds his way to Pattaya. Will have forgotten what had exactly happened by the next morning (recollections may vary vastly when alcohol is involved). Most probably will be up and about drinking in the next couple of weeks. Untrainable toddler!

I have an idea here. Maybe he was ignorant and arrogant against the wrong person. I don´t think he got beaten up totally without reason. Maybe he called people bigots and implied that they were less smart and had a basic intellect. Is that you, Richard? 😂

I'm pretty sure he work up from a drunken stupor, didn't know where he was, or why he was in a car with two guys he doesn't know........became combative and thought he was fighting a colonial war, "God save the Queen!"

Let’s be honest, very few sober guys get into this kind of situation.

If he was in a Taxi , and trying to get home its not his fault if he was robbed, but we don't know yet.

The 999th reason not to get that drunk in Thailand. People just minding their own business generally don’t have any problems here. He probable won’t even remember what happened.

I remember at least one. There was no alcohol involved and I won.

(Construction workers, working late and making a lot of noise 'after hours'.

They eventually went home.)

Or to shine a different light on the matter, how about -

- they saw a guy, drunk as a skunk, and thought that he would be an easy mark.

Offered to give him a lift, and when he was in the van, they tried to rob him.

He fought back and they gave up and kicked him out.

I am not saying that is what happened, but it's another way of looking at it.

Or they bummed him maybe?

That usually refers to the guys who handle sound and lighting systems in bars and night clubs.

Yup.  Speculation is pointless, but I guess it is entertaining for some to post various scenarios about what might have happened.

Bottom line to all this is that life in Pattaya is just the same as at home.  You don't go out and get sh!tfaced.  Taxi drivers take one look and think there is a problem: either loud a\gressive or at least is going to puke in the taxi.

Also the fact that he was not able to tell anyone where he lived is interesting.  Might have been a better idea for the bar to put him on the street and call the police to come get him.

A few years ago, I had a guy in the same condition in PATPONG. I tried to get him to go to his hotel on the upper scale at the end of the street. He was not interested and wanted more to drink. Finally, a couple of the bar girls convinced him that they were going to take him to his room for a good time. I got him to the hotel, and the hotel staff had to take control from there.
