Popular Post snoop1130 Posted 22 hours ago Popular Post Posted 22 hours ago A 59 year old Thai man accused a 23 year old nursing student of running a love scam after he gave her 370,000 baht in dowry but no wedding was held. Thanakrit, the 59 year old owner of a tutoring institute, turned to non-profit organisation Saimai Survive after failing to get his money back from his 23 year old girlfriend, Fon. He reported the romance scam to Tungkhru Police Station but the case did not progress, leaving him desperate. Thanakrit explained that he met Fon on a dating application in December of last year. Fon introduced herself as a junior nursing student. They communicated online until Fon confessed her love for him on Valentine’s Day this year. They arranged a meeting in person and began a romantic relationship. After that, Fon visited him frequently at his home, and they travelled together across various provinces in Thailand, enjoying a happy relationship. He covered all expenses and even bought Fon a new mobile phone. Thanakrit said he was asked to host the wedding after meeting Fon’s family in the Isaan province of Surin on April 29. Her family questioned him about whether the couple had engaged in sexual intercourse and Fon admitted they had. Following conservative traditions, Fon’s family insisted that he host the wedding, and the ceremony was scheduled for July 14. The family requested a 500,000 baht dowry from Thanakrit, which he agreed to pay. Fon asked him to transfer 372,000 baht to her first, with the remaining 128,000 baht to be paid on their wedding day. Sexy dress and online affair Thanakrit agreed to make the advance payment but noticed that the account Fon instructed him to transfer the money to belonged to her nursing institute’s official bank account. As the couple eagerly anticipated their forthcoming wedding, Fon moved in with Thanakrit at his residence in Bangkok. Together, they busied themselves with preparations, even going so far as to rent a wedding dress. However, despite their efforts and aspirations, their plans never materialised. Thanakrit said he became unimpressed with Fon’s habit of wearing revealing clothes and also caught her chatting with other men on social media. He decided to confront her family, which led to the cancellation of the wedding due to Fon’s anger. Thanakrit demanded the return of his money but the woman refused. She suggested he contact the nursing institute directly if he wanted his money back. Thanakrit later learned that Fon tricked him into transferring the dowry to the institute to pay for her tuition fees. Thanakrit contacted the institute in hopes of retrieving his money but was unsuccessful. The institute advised him to resolve the matter with his ex-girlfriend. He reached out to the police but received no progress, so he turned to Saimai Survive. As of now, the accused nursing student has not come forward to clarify the matter. rwill Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Isn't the dowry normally given after the wedding ceremony?
JimHuaHin Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Potential husband = ATM. Get the money, move onto the next victim. Happens more than is reported in the Thai media. I have heard similar stories from numerous Thai friends (including a couple of cases of female friends of friends who have engaged in this "game") - whose advice to me, "do not think of getting married, even to a well educated professional Thai". 1

steven100 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I've got a question for you guys ..... if you lost 1 million baht as dowry payment to your scamming gf, what would you do ? would you seek revenge in some way ?
Popular Post Briggsy Posted 7 hours ago Popular Post Posted 7 hours ago I don't think he "lost" 372,000 Baht. It certainly sounds as if he got quite a lot of his money's worth. Not a scam. He started to tell her who she could talk to, what she could wear, etc. She recognised the symptoms of a classic controller and wisely headed for the exit. Good move, Fon. 2 1 1 1 4 1

ChaiyaTH Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Love makes you blind is once again confirmed to be true... Cliche thing nowadays tho, girls who try to use guys for paying their education. Well no wonder, it costs like half a million baht to study like this girl does, my girlfriend did the same, while the starting salaries are still only 15K.... And there is even a lot of interest on these loans too, many parents don't even understand the terms. Essentially I am paying off my girlfriend education debt while she only worked 2 years, as it was not worth working compared to being a mom at home. Came down to something like this: Salary after taxes and forced insurance: 14,700 baht. Education debt: 4,700 baht (for 20 years). Real salary: 10,000 baht. 7/11 workers laugh at them. Even with a 20-23K salary in Bangkok it is a bad deal, as in that case there is additional rent and transport costs on top of the averages. Do some nurses in private hospitals earn 40-60K per month? Yes, that is the honey pot but few do that. A few doctors I know, not nurses, have double that education debt and their wage is also only double. So essentially they not really earn until age 40-45 and by then there was inflation for decades + the wages are often not increasing with that. Hence you always see Thais flashing dollars from that age. Anyway best advice to a Thai: start a business instead with some borrowed money after doing a job X years. Studying in this country is a waste of time anyway. I know girls from private schools who now are maids in hotels in europe while they could have their wage in passive income if their parents invested it instead. Edited 6 hours ago by ChaiyaTH 1 1
