Did you get a place in that top western university because of some DEI "qualifications"?

It seems you are not the smartest cookie in the jar.

Why would you want an old woman with kids? You should be able to find some nice 20 year old hottie.

20 year old hotties would be too smart for him.  They would want him to pay for accommodations and having a kid would be out of the question without marriage visa LOL

They all want rich Farang not some young kid that just finished university like them and has no money.

When someone tells you ... 'it's THEIR culture'  ... rest assured, chances are they are going to benefit from that culture, and it's going to cost you money.

Curious, what's the Thai culture, when a Thai male marries a non Thai female ... sin sot ???

How much sin sod for 28 yo single mom of 2 Bangkok suburb (Rangsit)?

She has 2 daughters and agreed to give me a kid. She is requesting 100k baht.

I am a 22 yo college graduate from a top western university.

What seems missing from this post is what is she doing to support herself , as Thai men (if two different fathers) will be unlikely to pay enough child support for her not to work and child benefit here seems very little. Who takes care of the kids if she is working, what does she work at ?

You should NOT be paying anything in sinsod, she is too used for this money. I paid zero, she had 2 good kids and good family but far too old and used - don;t like saying that but its true

If you feel the need to give her FAMILY some monetary help then that is OK, but spread it out over time in the form of support and not a lump sum.

I also fail to see from your post how you would live with her, you do not appear to have a job to work here and can't stay here without work.

I can tell you sin-sod is alive and well, I am talking Thai marry Thai.

I have been to many sin-sod 'parties', some with a huge amounts of money involved, even our lad had to cough up, no, not me..........😊

Yes, I have just arrived, I arrived in 1987 when I got married to a Thai woman in the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok. 😃

A wealthy family, sin-sod was never mentioned but I did pay for the wedding which had three hundred guests and a private hall including food etc.  I think it cost around £1200 at the time, which was nothing.

If I had been asked to pay sin-sod then I would have told them to sod off as I am not a silly sod. 😃

I do not know what goes on with Thai on Thai marriages though.

Maybe it is just a village thing where things tend to be a bit backward, I say that as some people here have mentioned 100,000 baht as a sin-sod payment, which might seem a lot and impress poorer folk from up-country (as the Thais say) but it is an insignificant amount to many Thais.

If he is in a top university, then that should meet the good prospects criteria.

That sounds strange to me.

What is the idea about getting kids for as cheap as possible? Then, what do you do with the kid(s)? Who will raise them? Who will pay for their school? Will they have only a father or also a mother?

As far as I see raising kids properly is expensive, also in Thailand. Just the school fees for decent schools are scary. Keeping those future costs in mind 100k or 1m for the "production" of the kids is just a small part of the all over cost.

I will pay all child support costs but only for my child. Then maybe a small allowance for her assuming she does a good job raising my kid.

Getting kids cheap as possible: The minimum investment to get her pregnant. Not minimum invested in my kid.
Because that's what everything boils down to. U support her in some way, she gives u a kid.
I see Farang buying a home and car for a girl without getting a baby, It's insanely stupid.

As i said.. any girl you marry and pay sinsod is going to make you babies....

The more you tell about this the more it seems you are trying to make her a surrogate mother to bear you a kid and give it to you. The mother may see it this way also and be asking for payment. Not for sinsod. If this is true. Then you still should not give 100k. If I recall. There was a man who wanted to impregnate about 30 women here. He would support them monthly making monthly payments and taking care of their medical. Once the baby was born he would give them the largest part of the agreed price and take the kid... I think he is in jail now after an apartment was raided with about 20 women pregnant by him.

Be careful, surrogacy is illegal in Thailand.

U mentioned girls stealing sin sod even from thais. How can I guarantee I at least get a kid out of any arrangement and don't get sin sod stolen.

I wonder if he's thought about adopting a black baby... he could tattoo in gold a Louis Vuitton Pattern which would make the child look more fashionable !!...   And if that comment is abhorrent, its meant to be, its on the same level as this halfwitted nitwit and a perfect example of why people should be forced to apply for a 'license' to be able to bring children into this world.....

In international School in Thailand runs at about 1 Million Baht per year - Can you afford that, or are you going to palm the child off at a local free temple school and subdue any potential they may have ?

Same thing - if you are so cheap to start with you are not setting any precident for the future well being of your child who'll end up with a ho as a mother and a womble as a father.

This is a sensitive subject for many....  I don't want to be insulting - but I have my own opinion on those who place there kids in schools that don't offer them the best chances in life....    they may have limited options and doing your best is all that can be done...  However, some people are just 'cheap' and don't see the value in a good school, while others, such as the op... are starting off on the wrong foot right off the bat...

... Unless he can afford a top-tier international school - in which case starting of any relationship on such a basis is going to be damaging for any child.

From my perspective there are only two education options:

a) Top Tier International School in Bangkok

b) Grammar School in the UK

IMO - anything else is selling the child short....   Of course, the world still needs supermarket staff and road sweepers, labourers and builders.....

I have yet to find a really good Thai school... And I should know from experience. The High dollar Thai schools may offer better foreigners teaching but the mottos of the schools do not change. The child only needs attend and show little effort to pass. If a high dollar school they may ask you for more money or charge you for extra classes that the kid could have learned in the normal classes if the teachers cared. The government schools may ask for new testing at a lower rate or washing the classrooms for summer closure to pass the class. Either way, it is eventually up to the kid if they actually learn and remember anything.

The only real chance it to be sent to a boarding school abroad. For a proper education and a degree that is recognized worldwide.

Anyway, this OP.. Which I think the moderators need to seriously look at... Seems to veer to being a surrogate parent which is illegal in Thailand.. and not what the writer initially commented about

I place being happy far above making money.

And unless you're seriously rich, putting your kid in a school above your station may well result in depression, bullying, drug addiction and suicide. Kids are really cruel to those that don't have as much as them, and they'll spot a poor kid in a school for the wealthy in a second.

Untrue...  The 'TopTier' international schools offer outstanding facilities, extremely high-standards of teaching...   Simply cannot be surpassed in Thailand and potentially the region (across the Middle East to Singapore).

Extra Fee's are only charged for ECA's and these are very reasonably priced (especially when compared to activities outside of school).

I disagree - Its up the Parents and the ethic's the instil in the child along with the 'drive' and ethics instilled by the school...  That said, I would never put my kid in a government school here (I'd move back to the UK instead).

No... and yes:   the Top Tier International Schools here are recognised world wide.

But I also agree, a UK Boarding School / Grammar School / Boarding Grammar a school is also an outstanding education.

The attitudes shown by the Op are extremely odd - even for a troll.

This idea that a 23 year old suddenly wants to be a parent and have a child, almost as if he could grow it in a test tube so there is no mother in the first place is wrong on many levels...  particularly morally where any child growing up in a such a situation has a far higher probability of suffering 'issues' due to many factors primarily a morally bankrupt and emotionally obscure father.

Why are you even asking such dumb questions?

If you love the girl and want to marry her, you should know what you want and not be looking to A/N to give you the answer.  if you have doubts, then you know the answer, or should.

Remember Mr. Punch's advice to a young man about to get married:  "Do not!"

Plenty on A/N will confirm that Thai women are professionals at parting young Farang men from their money

Nothing, zilch, nada. You will be expected to raise her children, while keeping her in a life of relative (to her) luxury. Think how much that is going to cost you each year.

Why would you expect to pay for that?

Absolutely NO sinsod. Sure you will stay in her place. But you will be supporting her and all  her baggage that is attached to her. Plus any stupid financial mistakes she will make in the future.  WHY in the world would you want to make a baby with someone like that? Sure, she is easy like low hanging fruit.  There are so many young nice thai girls that have kept their legs together and don't have children at such a young age. I would run as fast as you can.

I think none of us understand Thai customs, I think most Thais do also not understand Thai customs, the reason being there is such a huge class difference in Thailand and so many different customs for each class.

During my wedding feast, the ex-vice-prime minister made a toast at the hotel reception, and a photo of him, my wife, and I was in the Bangkok Post Society section, I think that is not standard, it had nothing at all to do with me, so I am not claiming anything, I am merely stating a point about Thailand and its class system. It is an observation.

People from Issan like to eat fried crickets etc, I asked a brother-in-law who was born and schooled in Bangkok if he ate them and he said no chance, I would not eat such food, I am not from upcountry.

They had chauffeurs, servants, the lot, wealthy, and looked down on the more uneducated Thais, that made no difference to me as my wife and I were already living in the UK and we were only in Thailand for our wedding so what they did in Thailand had no bearing on our lives in England.

A friend was talking to me a couple of years ago and he mentioned how his Thai wife crouched down on her heels down to the floor and ate, he said you know, in the manner Thais eat, I told him I have never seen any Thais eat that way, they use a spoon/knife/fork and table and chairs just like we farangs do.

I found out she came from a small village in Isaan, with so many different standards and ways of life in Thailand, one group never mixes with the other.

In my experience most farangs I have come across mix only with the poor Thais and for some reason most of the women are from Isaan.

Any farang who claims to know about Thailand and its culture is kidding themselves, they also generally mix with the same group or class and so do have many years of experience as they claim but in one level of Thailand, the level they are living at.

I have been living in Thailand for two years now although I am visiting the UK for a month at the moment.

You mentioned money and my lack of understanding of it, I don't need to know about Thai money whatever that means in this context, I send bank transfers to my Thai bank account when I need to, and my wealth, and property are all safe in the UK in my name and under my control.

We never know when temporary year-by-year visitors like us on yearly visa extensions might have to run for the hills (well in our case the airport) so keeping the majority of what we own in a safe country is the only sensible thing to do.

Although it must be very tempting to marry a poor Thai woman,  buy her a car and a house, pay for her parents and the sick buffalo as a lot of dim farangs do, and then think it is the norm, a while later they find it has all been taken,  they do make me laugh though, they are so gullible.  🤪

I don't think I would like to live in a typical Thai village as many farangs seem to do (or maybe that is what they can afford), it would be so boring, I prefer Phuket which is international and has international standards (but I do avoid the tourist areas), I can't see what people like about living in the back of beyond in a poor Thai village, why not go one step further and live in a cave.

Why are a lot of people arguing about whether this guy should pay sin-sod or not, he just wants to have a kid for some reason as some sort of lifestyle that will fit into him visiting Thailand now and then.

Either this kid is mentally ill or he is having us on and is laughing while some of us leave serious replies to his nonsense.

He must be joking I bet.

As for me 100K baht is nothing. I know a young girl that doesn’t have any kids with a great body and looks to kill can be in the millions. I would say if you’re both into one another and you don’t miss the money than go for it. If you’re tight on money you can say no. Doing that and her Mom might say to her she can’t marry you.

22 and going for a woman older?   Wtf.  And with  2 kids.    Don't do this.    No reason to be picking just 1 at that age.  No reason to have your own kids so young.  Much less 2 strange.    You lost the assignment!
