A 65-year-old Swedish tourist was robbed of cash and valuables worth over 40,000 baht after stopping to rest while heavily intoxicated. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 27 near Pattaya City School 8 in South Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi.

Police from Pattaya City Police Station were alerted to the theft at 03:35 and quickly arrived at the scene. The victim, identified as Mr. Lars Reikwike, reported that a man, described as appearing effeminate, approached him and stole 2,000 baht in cash and a gold ring valued at over 40,000 baht before fleeing.

Mr. Vinai, 50, a motorcycle taxi driver who witnessed the incident, stated that the tourist, who appeared very drunk, had stopped to rest while waiting for transportation back to his accommodation. The alleged perpetrator, who is known to frequent the area, noticed the tourist’s condition and approached him under the guise of offering help.

Sensing something suspicious, Mr. Vinai intervened and warned the man not to bother the tourist. However, the robbery had already taken place before police arrived.

Authorities have documented the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and locate the suspect. Investigators are also gathering witness statements as part of their efforts to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

My intention is not to sound unsympathetic to someone who's been robbed, but the relatively simple moral to this story is never drink to the point where you lose control, and never drink to the point

  • That's about a regular wedding ring, not exactly unusual.

  • "A fool (or dead drunk) and his money are soon parted" I hate to blame the victim, but jeez.. getting blotto with 40k on ya... late at night. Hasn't got the brains he should have been born w

My intention is not to sound unsympathetic to someone who's been robbed, but the relatively simple moral to this story is never drink to the point where you lose control, and never drink to the point where you lose your awareness out in public. The Darwinian aspect of this is that we must have the necessary survival skills to thrive in this world. Some have it and some simply don't.

The 40,000 Baht was not really a loss, it was a bargain price to pay for a real education. That Swede is now better educated today than he was a short while ago.

Or just the usual opportunistic ladyboy thief, lurking after dark.

40,000 that's just pocket money to the Swedish. :coffee1:

Amateur !

If you want to get blind drunk it is always best to have a plan how you are getting home at the end of it 😄🍺

The perpetrator was known to frequent the area ??????, why is he free to re affend ??, hope the guy gets his ring back, it probably has a lot of sentimental value, the commentary on here would do well to stop criticising people who are victims.

And why is this perpetrator allowed to do that?

I assume the witness told the police that he had seen the perpetrator around the area before. He was allowed to roam free because the crime wasn't committed yet.

Or just the victim of an opportunist thief...

Or he possibly just bought it in Pattaya.

The moral of this story is if you can't handle your drink ie alcohol

Don't drink to excess 😱

They have a tendency to be rather trusting, naive and unaware of dangers.

However, their recently-arrived immigrant community is giving them a lesson at home, whilst the Thais are giving them a lesson abroad.

As he got approached by a ladyboy whilst he was drunk at 3 AM , he should be grateful that his other ring didn't get taken or damaged

How stupid to do that with Bht 2000 in your pocket.

At least it's not the ethnicity that loses gold chains.

Is it that season again?

He has thrived until now and is still alive .......he may even have reproduced.

He is adapted to manage the loss of 40,000 baht......he's a rich Westerner on holiday

Your "Darwinian aspect" would be laughed out of the lecture theatre by your fellow first day, first term, first year undergraduates.
