Community Boy 10, Dies After Being Shot in Rural Kalasin Hut
Picture courtesy of Amarin A 10-year-old boy has died after being shot in the forehead at a hut in a paddy field in Kalasin province. Authorities are urgently investigating the circumstances of the incident, amid conflicting accounts from witnesses. The victim, identified as Surasak “Bas”, was found seriously injured with a gunshot wound to the right side of his forehead on the evening of 2 June. The incident occurred at approximately 21:00 at a two-storey wooden hut, roofed with corrugated iron, situated around 600 metres from Kok Kwang village in Maha Chai subdistrict, Somdet district. Rescue workers transported the boy to Somdet Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route. A locally made Thai-style flintlock gun, typically used for hunting rodents, was discovered near the scene along with visible bloodstains on a bamboo platform outside the hut. According to investigators from Sahatsakhan Police Station, who are temporarily attached to Saeng Badan Police Station, the weapon was allegedly brought to the hut by a group of older boys aged between 14 and 18, who had taken Surasak with them to the rural location. The teenagers claim the gun accidentally discharged while Surasak was playing with it. However, police remain unconvinced by the explanation and are treating the matter with caution. “We are not ruling anything out at this stage,” said one officer. “All individuals present at the scene will be called in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.” Forensic teams have collected the weapon and other evidence for examination and autopsy results are expected to provide further clarity. The incident has shocked the local community and raised questions over access to homemade firearms in rural areas, as well as the supervision of children. When I claimed my SP, I phoned the International Pension Centre, 4 months prior to my data of eligibility, which for me was 4 months prior to my 66th birthday. Best to do it early IMHO in case of issues/delays. Also best to ring them since less info is required as opposed to the postal application form and you do not need to supply any supporting documents which may be required to support a postal application. Took me approx 20-30 minutes on the phone plus about 5 minutes waiting in the queue. -

Crime Body of Baby Girl Found Washed Ashore in Chanthaburi Mangrove Forest

The infant, estimated to be no older than three months, was found face down in the water near Khlong Por canal with a visible wound on her forehead. At approximately 15:00, officers from Khlung Police Station, emergency services from Khlung Rescue Foundation and local administrative officials travelled by boat to the remote site in Moo 3, Bang Chan Subdistrict, after being alerted by a local fisherman. Initial examination revealed the infant had likely been dead for around 24 hours. The wound on her forehead appeared consistent with blunt force trauma, possibly from impact with a hard object. The baby’s body was gently recovered and taken by boat to the pier near Wat Tha Kha Yang temple, where it was handed over for forensic examination. At this stage, no relatives have come forward and there have been no reports of missing children in the area. According to the man who discovered the body, he was piloting his boat to a nearby shrimp pond when he noticed what he initially thought was a discarded doll. As he drew closer, a strong odour confirmed it was a human body. He immediately informed local village leaders and called the police. Local villagers performed a small ritual at the site, offering milk and snacks according to traditional beliefs, before authorities arrived. The canal where the body was found is known as Khlong Por, which flows from the Nam Daeng and Bang Chan communities. Residents believe that the low tide may have caused the body to drift and become lodged along the mangrove edge. Police are urging anyone who may recognise the baby or knows of a missing infant to contact Khlung Police Station. An autopsy and further investigation are underway to determine the cause of death.
