Northeast U.S. might want to join Canada because of Trump -- does Canada want them?

Here's a much more practical, legal, and win-win solution.

If you don't like it.  Sell your stuff and move.

Edit:  In fact, I'd suggest an exchange program where Canucks that don't like Trudeau can swap homes with Yanks who hate Trump.  The US would come out way ahead with that program.

Canada has immigration rules eh.

They can apply for asylum...  After all, they are mercilessly persecuted and living in fear, if only in their minds.

Besides, I know dozens of Americans who moved to Canada when their companies transferred them.  A few of them even put down roots and stayed.

It isn't at the point where Canada will grant asylum to Americans except in very extraordinary specific cases.

Canada's normal non refugee immigration system is merit based fairly similar to Australia.

Not really. Just show up and claim asylum. Or doctor some immi papers and student loan applications. Heck, bring the whole fam damily. All good brother. But I must warn you that Trudy's lefty agenda makes even Harris supporters cringe.

As long as we're talking about the U.S. splitting up, personally I wouldn't want to join Canada even if Canada wanted to acquire U.S. states. I think new INDEPENDENT countries would be much better.

Where did you eventually move to when you emigrated to Central America ?

Which Country did you choose to go and live in , in the end ?

You seemed to have spent years thinking about it and trying to decide which Central American Country you would emigrate to

OK, I get it. This sounds sensationalist and it's obviously not something that if it ever happens will happen soon.

HOWEVER --

The fact that this is even being talked about is another sign of the seriousness of the situation of autocrat Trump coming back to power.

Why? Well, normal decent American presidents try to be presidents of ALL the states. Not just states where they have a lot of support. Trump has already shown a pattern of wanting to PUNISH states (and cities) with leadership and voters who oppose his extremist maga autocrat agenda.

I'm not saying this will really happen. Nobody can predict the future that way. But such split up of countries is actually not rare in world history, ancient and more recent.

The Northeast for sure but also the Pacific Coast States.

Four States Could Secede From US and Join Canada to Avoid Trump—Democrat - Newsweek

The leftist loonies have lost their minds (including the OP of this thread).

The four states (aggregate total) voted 41.9% Republican and 58.10% Democrat. That's 5.583 million Republicans vs 7.741 million Democrats.

If there were a vote for secession to Canada, nearly everyone, including the Democrats, would also want to stay in the US.

Speaking of wild exaggerations, which one sounds like a reasonable plan, and which one sounds like a lefty fantasy?:

1) Secede from the USA and join Canada

2) Sell your stuff, take the proceeds and go across the border and buy some real estate in Canada.   Don't bother going back until 2036 when Trump and Vance are no longer in office...   ('Muricans can actually buy Canadian real estate on EBay).

Better off moving to Mexico.

I am not predicting thar the US map will change but it is idiotic to suggest it isn't at least possible.

That both pro and anti autocrat Teump factions are openly talking about it certainly isn't the sign of a stable country.

Funny how that was called out as insurrectionist and crazy talk when conservatives suggested it...

Wrong. The Canadian IQ would increase, and the US IQ would go further down the toilet.

Tried in 1861, allegedly settled in 1865.

Still, there are parts of Oregon and California with sane citizens that want to secede from the depravity of those states.

Don't see much support from the left-leaning for those proposals.

"But this time it's different."

Typical leftist propaganda crap. Some lunatic left-wing Democratic New York state senator says we should all secede because Donald Trump is a meanie and the papers pick it up like it's a plan.

If any of you think that this silliness has even 1% chance of ever being true, then please go seek psychiatric help

And if they tried to secede "the hard way", guess who has more guns.

Admittedly, the lefties can shout louder.  Especially the wimmuns.

You arent Canadian. You know nothing about their laws or their immigration system other than what someone else tells you. Again spouting off with no knowledge of that which you speak.

Are you Canadian?
