 Badendoch’s claims are patently absurd.

She somehow absorbs the working class culture, outlook, full life experience and the shared history of working class people because she flipped a few burgers and cleaned a few toilets.

Osmosis is a thing, but it has its limits.

Badendoch’s claims are patently absurd.

More unsubstantiated and fact less claims

No, it’s not her experience…..it is just what she said was her experience…..she’s just being a politician……much the same as Starmer…..I’m not a fan of either.

I laboured on a building site, weekends, for three years from 16 …..I wouldn’t be arrogant enough to claim I know, empathise, or understand working mens lives on the back of that.

This!

Says a guy who doesn’t even understand the my Jarvis Cocker reference.

I’ll wager you have zero understanding of British working class culture.

Are you claiming that she was lying when she stated that she worked in McDonalds ?

What are your claims based on ?

Where do I suggest, claim, indicate she was lying about her employment record?

*Upon what are your claims based?

*’On' is a preposition….you really should try to avoid ending a sentence with one.

More off topic nonsense about  Jarvis Cocker. I lived in Tottenham, my first 2 kids where born in North Mid Hospital, I was in the flats at the Tottenham riots. I know about working class.

Again you display your ignorance and unsubstantiated claims. The topic is not about me either. You have nothing Chomper.

Shows that you have no idea what you are talking about .

She moved in full time to a poor rough working class area in London and lived with a family there and studied and worked in McDonalds to pay her way .

She was full time Working class for a few years , not just flipping the odd burger

I agree with you (for a change) and it is embarrassing that Badenoch is lowering herself to race grifting.  There was no racist intent in the joke that Starmers script writers provided for him and jokes are just that... jokes.  This one was mildly amusing, completely harmless and only a weak leader would take umbrage with it.  She is really not cut out to be a conservative leader and my concerns that she only got the job so that she could provide exactly this kind of DEI defense against Labour criticisms seem to be merited.

Starmer's a joke in himself. He doesn't need script writers, even rubbish ones.

Yes, and Badenoch is showing her lamentable lack of political savvy. But, what would you expect from a Tory?

Scroll down to early life and education .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemi_Badenoch

Her father Femi Adegoke was a GP who later founded a publishing company in Nigeria and became an activist for the rights for the Yoruba people. Her mother Feyi was a professor of physiology in America and at the University of Lagos.

Her family lived in the middle classneighbourhood of Surulere and she was a student at the private International School of Lagos. Badenoch has described her background as "middle-class" but said in 2018 "Being middle class in Nigeria still meant having no running water or electricity, sometimes taking your own chair to school"

Mmmmmm……father a GP who founded a publishing company, mother a professor in the US, lived in a middle class area………but had no running water or electricity……doesn’t really add up methinks.

Also in a Nigerian outlet.

How Kemi Badenoch, 42, grew up ‘with no running water’ in Nigeria to become top contender for British Prime Minister

Here is a bit more about her arrival in the UK.

To support herself, Ms Badenoch, who lived with a family friend, secured a part-time job at McDonald’s and picked up ad-hoc work elsewhere.

‘Most of the students were from ethnic minorities and the expectations for us were low,’ she recalled in an interview with the Independent. ‘The poverty of low expectations must change. Schools and teachers matter.’

I think, but do check, when Badendoch claimed to have been converted to being ‘working class’ she was referring to British working class, something that is defined by a shared deep historical and cultural roots within British social history.

I don’t think access to running water, let alone private schools, in Nigeria is amongst those shared historical and cultural roots  of the British working class.

Well maybe she wasn’t referring to becoming a member of the British working class.

That might make more sense.

Well the claim to have become ‘working class’ is absurd, but I think we have established she might have been talking about some other working class.

Are you personally rejecting her application to join the working class ?

On what grounds are you rejecting her application ?

Surulere is a very beautiful place with lots of attractions. It’s located in Lagos State, Nigeria. Different people have given different opinions on why they like or dislike Surulere, but whatever your reasons, there’s no doubt Surulere has a lot to offer.
