KBank blocked WISE
Could be worse in Canada I had to show ID to change two Yankee $5 bills for a $10. At least I didn't have to tell them where I got them but I guess that's coming. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Can't assume that what they mean. It is probably not. The term "state pension" has a different meaning in UK and Australia, referring to the governmrnt issued old age pensions there. So a Brit or Aussie might mistakenly use it for what Is actualky US Social Security. -

Bold Attempted Taxi Theft Ends in Crash on Thai Highway
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In an unexpected turn of events early this morning, a man tried to steal a taxi during a trip to Nakhon Ratchasima, leading to a collision with a container truck. The incident unfolded at 5:30 a.m. on February 10th, drawing police attention to CCTV footage in search of the suspect. Officers from Nong Khae Police Station in Saraburi province rushed to Phahonyothin Road’s kilometre marker 95, where they found a wrecked white GAC taxi from Bangkok's Kan Kanaphisek Taxi Cooperative. The crash blocked traffic as emergency services worked at the scene. The taxi driver, known only as Tua, suffered minor head injuries and received immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old truck driver, Somkiat, from Nakhon Ratchasima, reported merely a scratched bumper on his vehicle. According to Tua, the trouble began after he was hired for a fare initially set at 3,000 baht (US$90) but negotiated to 2,600 baht (US$77), to take a passenger from Rama 2 to another mall in Nakhon Ratchasima. Mid-journey, his passenger declared his plan to commandeer the taxi, instructing Tua to exit. Tua attempted to delay by stating he needed to charge the car, but the suspect grabbed the steering wheel, resulting in the crash. The would-be thief then fled on foot. Truck driver Somkiat, returning from Khlong Toei Port, described feeling an impact and discovering the collision upon stopping. Police have recorded the incident and are actively reviewing CCTV to capture the suspect and proceed with legal action. The event highlights both the daring nature of the theft and the importance of vigilance while on the road. -- 2025-02-10 -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Nope. Just in Germany. Their DTA pretty much looks like all the others, since they all follow pretty religiously the OECD and UN Model Tax Treaties. Actually, the only country's DTA I came across, where Thailand has primary taxation rights on civil service/military pensions is Norway. [And here, Norway will tax it all, if you can't show you paid tax to Thailand on it.] -

Trump 2.0 -- Exponentially more damaging than Trump 1.0
Last time around. He is destined to repeat himself. Or worse this time. He promised to cut the deficit. He added $8T. He promised to build a wall. He only did 458 miles out of 2,000. Most of it was repair or replacement, not new. He promised to make Mexico pay. They didn't. We did. He promised to unveil a new healthcare plan. It didn't exist. He promised a middle-class tax cut. He cut taxes for the rich. The middle class is paying for it. He said he wouldn't play golf as President. He made 250 visits (way more than Obama) to his own golf clubs. It cost taxpayers $150 million. He said he'd increase economic growth by 4%. Nope. Biden did. He promised an infrastructure plan. He had none. President Biden signed a massive one. He promised to hire "the best people." He fired 3/4 of them and then said they were the worst ever, and they said HE was in fact the worst ever. He promised to bring down the price of prescription drugs. He didn't: Biden did. He promised a Hillary lock-up. Nope Promised we'd win the trade war with China. Nope, It cost about 250,000 jobs and hurt Americans, not help them. He promised his corporate tax cuts would help and benefit Workers, and corporations would use that money to invest in American workers. They didn't, they used that money to buy back stocks. He promised to revive the coal industry. Never happened: more coal jobs were lost during his presidency.
