Liver and Bacon

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone recommend a place for a decent liver and bacon dinner.

Hopefully closer to the north of island but as they say in the west - have hunger will travel.

I immediately checked Shakespears menu since I had it there moons ago but looks like they don't do it anymore.

Gow Badger in Lamai seems to be the only one that google knows of now..

Thanks for that lom.

Me as well at The Shakespeare.

We managed to get Joe to do a special a year or two back, still very good, but it needs a few of you to eat it all.

(Joe also does a really good Beef Wellington. Again, it needs a few of you.)

I have not seen liver and bacon on any menus here. Maybe try Bangrak Café? They might be able to do it as a special order if they don't have it on the menu.

Irish Times. Pigs liver sliced thin and really tender comes with bacon, fried onions, mashed potato and spinach. Goes well with a pint of Guinness.

But of course! and what a find, I'm passing by there almost every day and have not noticed that pearl of a pub hidden within the compound.

Thank you for that Tmoney. I completely forgot about the Irish Times.

Drive past it almost every other day. Duh!  :goof:

Why not make it at home, but if you wan't a fancy romantic restaurant with candles on the table, you're on your own.

It's easy to make, I do it once a month 30-40 minutes.

I do not waste my time on anything that takes longer than 20 minutes to prepare and cook.

(That includes opening and pouring the wine.)

From opening the fridge to sitting at the table - 20 minutes max.

The 'longest' meal that I cook is marinaded pork chop (TOPS), BBQ'd with tomato and onions. and frozen, spicy potato wedges cooked in the air fryer. It just fits into the time slot.

As an aside, I do have candlelight dinners now and again.  🕯️🍽️🍷 🕯️

We get quite a few power cuts.

Has to be cold chicken though, the air fryer needs electricity.

Just curious, what do the rest of the day?

Is Patricia Routledge a relation of yours?

Work, running a small business.

Get one of these from Lazada: https://www.ecoflow.com/us/delta-2-portable-power-station

Should be enough to power an air fryer.

I bought the smaller one, the River Pro in the 11/11 sales, due to constant brown outs. Got it for running a few fans. 765W, but my fans are rated 46W. Already have emergency lights.

Typical. The minute I bought it, we haven't had any power cuts or brown outs. Even with all  the recent bad weather.

But it's charged up and ready. I even bought a solar panel to charge it once the Sun comes out. 🙂

You do seem to have more brown outs than most.

We had a total outage the other day - Six Senses did something at their end and it took out a couple of transformers.

Lasted about 5 hours.

Do it yourself get all the ingredients in Makro  it’s a 10 minute job remember to dip your liver in seasoned flour and shallow fry as for the bacon use back bacon a few fresh mushrooms and fried onions would make the dish awesome with some gravy on the side

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that it would be uneconomical to buy a gas hob just for this job.

I have nowhere to put it anyway.

(I gave the cooker away when wifey died  - to make space for the beer fridge.)
