bob bored again and a lot of posts...as usual

yep, the attention starved ladyboy lover hard at work, trying to get noticed. maybe he should have just stayed in Spain, but I'm guessing the trannies there weren't to keen on him so he did a quick reversal back to Soi 6/1

Tourists who know how to behave are no problem at all.

What I see now though is basically a wild mob on the loose in many tourist hotspots on 90 day visa exemption stamps that just do not give a stuff about anything or anyone around them!

It's all the Aussies rampaging around that is the problem. The likes of MalcolmB and his ilk are ruining the place for the decent tourists like the Brits and Swiss etc. I wish they would just stick to Bali.

Try Loei province. Mountainous, Places you choose to stay you will not see expats but if you want to see, head to Chiang Khan or Loei City (BigC, Lotus, Global, Makro also has its own airport). At the moment at dawn it is 13°C, in the daytime 27°C. Hope that helps

Nice so much better weather than Chiang mai province. I didn't know it got that cool there. I haven't seen even close to 13c this year in Samoeng and it's more north in the mountains and even higher elevation (500 compared to 250 in Loei). We got rain the other day and the temps seem to be dropping now but still won't hit 13c tomorrow I bet.

Drive to touristy places to fight off boredom.

The most touristy place I go to is the airport to leave the country for a break

Trouble with some of these out-of-the-way places is , what would you do all day ? OK if you have a Thai GF / wife and nice house where you can relax , but if stuck in a small hotel with no pool ....? There`s nowhere to walk and no beach to sit on .

Best idea would be to just travel around from place to place , although many of these small towns look the same .

Enough is Enough.

Tourist ghettos no more, I am done with them, the tourists (especially you know who) are destroying this beautiful country with their terrible manners, unruly kids and general disregard for others around them and the environment. I need some new scenery or I am going to go mad (if I haven't already reached that point)..

I would like to enlist the help of fellow AN members in asking where do you recommend I go with the following stipulations:

1. Hardly any farangs in sight, especially tourists.

2. Remote places, can be mountainous, towns, city, beach, jungle, whatever.

3. Reasonable food

4. Reasonable room rates

5. Real local people, no tourist BS.

I welcome any and all input into this topic. Finally the tourist ghettos have worn me down - it took a while but it has finally happened. Now I understand Joe who retires way out in the sticks on a nice plot of land and a couple water buffalo with his young thai bride. There is something real in that kind of life that the ghetto just cannot provide.

Wherever the tourists are going this high season, I'm not. I want a comprehensive list of places that are truly off the beaten track.

Thank you in advance!

Bar Boy Bobby, why don't you come up with a real topic for a change instead of this rubbish asking for people to write you up redundant lists of the various provinces in Thailand. Shameless. I pity anyone who wastes their time writing a real response to your back Soi trolling.

what is Loei like the coldest weather in the country or something? The drivable mountain peaks around here are 1200m and I don't think they're going to get 8c tomorrow but I've never actually been there in the early mornings to measure.

Weather in CM is hot garbage. Too much pollution and cars put a heat blanket over the entire region. People tell me it's colder in Isaan now. There's a tip for Bob, stay away from Chiang Mai, at least 100 kilometers in any direction.

My dear OP. Most Farangs that live outside of Tourist-Hubs live with their Thai Wifes/Thai Family. It may work out or it may not work out.
I myself lived in the Thai-Sticks solo for 5 years. Learned basic Thai. But never was able to call any of my Thai neighbors as "friends". I remained a "stranger", especially as I showed no interest in any long-term relationship with a local beauty and her family.

The internet was my friend. After 5 years, I decided to return to civilisation, fearing that I would end up in a mental istitution eventually.

Rural Thailand is still not prepared to harbor "solo farangs", only wanting to live in peace, undisturbed by locals, them thinking that you must be "rich". The root of the problem.

Therefore: Be careful what you ask for.

Meet a Issan girl who has two tattoos. Left leg is X-Mas, Right leg is New Year.

She wants you to come in between the holidays.🙃🙃

Loei province is well known to be the coldest place in winter and hottest place in summer. Phu Rua and Phukradung mountains being the highest

Has anybody found a way to shut "Bob Smith" yet? he's on my block list but the daily newsletter doesn't filter it (I have asked for this facility but still not there).

Narcissistic moronic DRIVEL from someone who has nothing better to do.

Total jerk.

With him and and that other moron GG we have a pair of clowns here. I wouldn't give a flying fork but I would ask the moderators if his post can be blocked TOTALLY from those sensible people who have switched this cretin off.

DO NOT put his posts on the twice daily newsletter please.

P.S. "Bob" - fork off

Now have some compassion @nglodnig, please. Poor chap spends all day on his barstool in Soi 6, and when he has summoned up the courage to step out some Russians have copped off with all the girls!

It's enough to drive a fellow to drink.

You may be a troll but you do share the sentiments of others who want to 'get away' from tourists/expats despite being one themselves. Those types usually have a misguided unwarranted sense of superiority, or are pretending to be someone they are not, and the absence of people closer to the culture they were brought up in means they can masquerade with less risk of being exposed.

Saying that I totally get wanting to be somewhere remote/rural. And being out of tourist traps is generally more relaxing and more wholesome. Anyone who is genuine, just tour around. Unless you speak Thai and have hobbies/passions in life then you will probably get bored though.

Not necessarily, the first 27 years of my life I lived three mile from another house (not, village, town or city) hence the reason I like peace and quiet but I do enjoy going to to touristy places for a few days (only a few)

Chiang Khan to Nong Khai is a really nice run, following the Mekong all the way. Not sure if your into a bit of climbing/walking up a mountain but Phukradung is definitely worth it (took me 5 hours, then another 1 hour to the campsite) bicycles for hire on the top

Zero.

It's never been the same since Jools moved on. The Bus Stop doesn't seem to be what the new crowd are looking for either.

Barboy,

You can exchange the farang ghetto for a more simple life in the countryside or Thai village.

2 distinct benefits:

1.  Yabba heads plentiful so they know exactly who to go to for a loan or to steal from.

2.  Thais entering your home.  Uninvited, without permission for any reason. Very social.  Ditto for loans.  You’re better than a bank.

I had 5 years in a Nakhon and enjoyed it. Enough farangs about to have a drink with and enough bars and caffs for variety. The domestic situation went bad so I moved on, now from what I hear covid did not do the place any favours. Every place changes with time.
