Beer Lao dark now 5%?

Featured Replies

Just been in Tops and noticed Beer Lao Dark has gone down to 5%, when did this happen? Looking on the web wishbeer have it, but with a label I never saw before, still at 6.5%. Won't be buying it at 5%, on the official website is says 5%. Are there two versions of it now?

Yes , just finished one of this very moment here in Savannakhet…

I used to drink BLD for the flavor.  If getting a buzz, quick relaxed mood was the priority, I'd drink spirits, usually Mojitos.   Or Long Is Iced Tea, if really needing to wind down fast.

And or a doobie for instant results 😎

Does it really matter?

Personally, I drink beer which I like, and I really don't care about the percent.

I last bought it a few months ago and it was 6%, I won't be buying it at 5%, there is a reason beers have higher alcohol content, they often taste better

Of course it matters, there seems to be a constant reduction in the % chang used to be over 6%  now it's weak and getting weaker, they never tell us of course. This is what wishbeer has for Lao dark, not same label and 6.5%

I combated that fall by going from small bottle to big bottles.

And I presume the bigger bottles are usually cheaper by volume?

If so...win-win 🍻🍻👍

But they did tell you. It's written on the can/bottle, and you yourself said it was on their website. They are not going to put up signs, or advertise it, or send you a message. How else did you expect them to 'tell you'?

Has it affected the taste at all and if so how?

I thought it tasted better, smoother and less bitter than before.

Thanks, I liked the beer but thought it was a tad too strong for more than 2 at a time

Be interesting to taste the difference - and maybe see the price difference as the lower alcohol may translate to a lower price - being hopeful here but probably it won't make any difference.

Why not? If you like the taste then buy more of it and drink more of it.
