seeing the news this AM frm the US, Trump wants Biden tosign a bill to  increase the "debt ceiling" which will then able Trump to cut the income taxes of the RICH upon assuming the office on 20 January.  Trump then can make the excuse that the DEMs increased the debt ceiling, not him.  Without the increase, the two parties had already come up with an omnibus bill to fund the govt until March and Trump never mentioned this increase of the debt ceiling until yesterday.  I don't think Biden will sign such a bill ... going to be some more unhappy folks during the holidays but am sure Presidents Trump/Musk are feeling pretty powerful in steering the govt already before they even take the oaths in January.  All Trump/Musk need to do is wait until 20 January, then as president and with a Rep controlled House and Senate ht could then get a bill to sign increasing the debt ceiling so he can then lower the taxes of the rich but then that would be too obvious I guess.  From what Ihave read bout our congress, their main job is to work out a bill funding the US govt for the next year...here we are already 3 months into that "next year" and might have to shutdown due to no funding bill!!!  Need to fire all of them, come up with term limits and hopefully get some folks more interested in actually doing the job of the congress instead of concentrating on getting re-elected so they can then get rich.  My opinion anyway as a conservative Republican and anti-democratic policies.

Yes and no.

Trump doesn't actually like doing the president work.

He likes the pomp and circumstance and for some reason it doesn't look like Vance is going to be much of a factor, unless he's called to take over.

Without musk it's doubtful trump would be in the tent. Although i'm sure trump won't have any doubts.

 

But the main thing for trump is that he can implement policies favouring himself and look good on TV.  He won't care about anything else and will let musk do what he wants, which will result in musk further enriching himself and increasing his importance.

One of the things I feared. He's following the same pattern he did last time. Talks big on controlling immigration and restoring American industries. Then the first thing he does is a tax cut for billionaires. All the other stuff is subsequently ignored. Same as last time in office.

Congress has other ideas about being bossed around by Musk and Trump.  I am almost sure the GOP in both the House and the Senate will challenge Trump's threats to primary them.

I think there's a great deal of truth to this. Trump likes the parties and international meetings. He also likes having adoring audiences. All of which is interesting considering what I just saw in the British press. It seems the UK is sending a new ambassador to the US who has publicly insulted Trump several times. I see the British speculating their man will be frozen out. I don't think so. Trump, for some reason, is an Anglophile and allows all sorts of slights and insults from the UK. I'll bet he let's this pass too. I remember when he spent his first term angling for a reception from the late queen. This is what the man likes, not the nitty gritty of hard political work.
