If, as the news above your post says, he is from Britain, he would not have required a visa under the earlier policy as he gets 30 days visa free. So he could still have holidayed here without a visa the same as a million others.

Therefore the excitement . As such the poor and the not so rich travel to Thailand from India, so for them this must have been a grand opportunity to indulge.

Nope, when in town I often frequent one of the bars right by that checkpoint late afternoon as it’s good entertainment value watching the BIB go about their business.
Was there only a few days ago and seen them stop a female local who was conservatively dressed and even wearing a helmet. Admittedly I’d say 90% of stops are farangs but I regularly see them stopping their own.
You have a very narrow view on Thai men in general, or call it pure ignorance because of lack of knowledge. Narrowed down to your own first hand experience?
