sgtsabai Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I changed insurance companies last year after an attempt to scam me out of a considerable amount of money. I drive an expensive car, Thai import prices, Mustang GT. I carry first class ins. and always have on previous vehicles. Thai DL for 18 yrs. I'm 79 and still have first class insurance. If your insurance company chooses to not renew, I believe you can find another one. 2

I pay 20k a year for Class 1 with all the idiot drivers it is the only way to go in my opinion. Honda Insurance quoted me 20k but I got almost the same cover with Rooja for 9000. My wife didn't believe it and insisted on speaking with Rooja who confirmed I was correct. She was redfaced as she had just paid some stupid premium with BMW 1
Negita43 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I thought in Thailand they insured the car not the driver.Currently I'm on class 3 for all my cars as they are ancient (like me) but when one of them was new I'm sure the policy (class 1) covered the car for any driver.

Car insurance rules have changed since yesterday for new cars all cars from January 1st 2026 Overhauling "car insurance" for the next 20 years, forcing name identification and calculating premiums based on risk Because in reality, the risk of a car is not in the car itself but in the driver

From January 1, 2026 onwards, all types of car drivers must have voluntary insurance with "named driver" policy https://www.thaipbs.or.th/news/content/347517
