In which case consider the Jeju air tragedy whereby the two sole survivors were cabin crew seated in the tail of the aircraft.

Yep,

Sit at the back, planes don't reverse into mountains.

bob, you've turned into the hub of polls and paranoia. Lighten up. Have a drink and celebrate that you've survived another year. It's New Year's FFS.

  • The number of Commercial flights in 2023 was 35,300,000... The number of Commercial flight crashes in 2023 was 30...   So on the whole, I would say they are safe, and the safest way to

bob seems to like to talk to himself and answer his own questions. A bit manic like GG in that way.

Of course it's safe as long as you don't fly over a war zone and fly with companies with weird names like Jeju.

What's weird about Jeju ???...    Its an Island about 3x the size of Phuket, located south of Mainland South Korea - Calling an Airline Jeju Air, i.e. after a place is no different than calling an airline Bangkok Airways or Phuket Air.

What is weird is the distorted mentality of some who have no idea how silly their remarks are.

It's strange that aircraft accidents seem to come in two's or threes close together.

Nope they don't..  Its just coincidental that three have occurred this week, there is no pattern other than one imagined...

Bob's special in that way.     He borders on mental issues.

My point only refers to your post on the Azerbaijan incident.

It may or may not correlate with a general idea that one is "safer" in different parts of an aircraft.

It seems we are seeing more and more plane crashes resulting in fatalities these days, and with the rise of low cost airlines and Boeing out on strike every other week it was always bound to get worse. With an industry that seems to increasingly favor profit levels over safety, I personally think a big shift in attitudes is needed if the airlines want to win back the public's trust.

So, do you think Air Travel is still safe?

Statistically speaking I would say yes, of course, no questions asked, air travel is still by far the safest mode of transportation in the world. However, whenever I step on a plane these days it is always with an added layer of trepidation, and every bump is always felt with a little more anxiety than usual...

I don't trust budget airlines as far as I can throw them, but that wont stop me getting on a plane just yet.

Look at the statistic and you will obtain your answer.

Fly Malasian Airlines.  We can make you disappear.

I'll be guarded in my response but after my flight on Thai back to London on 26th December I will never be flying them again

I always flew Thai and never had a problem of their making.

However due to experience in British Airways and Air NZ- problems with cabin crew on both- I'll never fly with them again, or Cyprus Air- worst seats of any airline I ever flew on. I'd have flown on Emirates if they didn't stop during the flight. Not interested in hanging around in an airport middle of the night.

How much do they pay Thai apologists these days??

Looks like Bob really overstepped himself on this latest drunken and fearful brain fart of his.

The data on commercial flight safety quickly reveals that there is no basis at all for any of his usual fear mongering.

Alas, another one of his rubbish topics that everybody should just abandon immediately.

A different question; is Boeing safe, or would you aim for a flight using Airbus?

As long as it's not a Boeing, yeah.

Do a comparison in any country regarding deaths and injuries resulting from traffic accidents.

There are of course some airlines I would not fly with, and some destinations I would board and aircraft in

Yeah, and by the looks of it 179 people have just died.

No HNY for them, eh?

Yeah well Darwin had a point and most of those are part of his selection process.

If you are worried about flying on a  737 your options are going to be pretty limited

At the end of the day you are more likely to die driving to or from the airport than you are actually on the aircraft

My only concerns are the DEI pilots and maintenance workers.

Please add Dawnamic Strangio (they/them) to payroll. They will be piloting the Airbus on the NY-Singapore Route. May I suggest an announcement celebrating their hire as the first visually impaired neurodivergant trans pilot! They will start their route after they finish their instrument rating on Cessnas.

Dear Colonel Cleaver (USAF, ret)

Thank you for your application and your service. Our hiring team were truly impressed by your 5000 hours piloting B52s, many of those hours in combat., Unfortunately due to the huge number of qualified applicants, we are unable to offer you employment at this time.
