Talking of carp, I just started watching 2025 season of pawn stars seems so dated and cringable, unbelievable that they made so many series. Another missable series is The Hunting Party One I thought was going to be like the Night Agent but turned out to be quite watchable is The Recruit.

Almost as bad as woke programs. Started watching one the other day and gave up ... ... starts with inter racial couple ... then homosexual couple ... handicapped person ... all unsavory characters were males, most white ... all characters in a position of power were females Simply mind boggling. That was just the first 2 eps ... deleted the rest. 1 3

Most shows, woke-ish don't take away too much, as long as it's good plot and well acted. But that was way OTT. Yes, there are plenty of gay / bi folks in the world, inter racial couple, handicapped, unsavory and successful folks, but I've never seen 20 people in the same room, all fitting one of those descriptions in real life. Is it asking too much not to have 80% of the cast, identifying as some minority group. Back on topic ... fan of The Firm (movie) so started watching 2012 TV series, and getting interesting, 4 eps in. Like how they brought the movie story line into the series. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1949012/
Will27 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago There's just so much what I would call "filler" being released these days. Shows that are not terrible but aren't good either. A lot of the stuff I watch is foreign with subs. TV has really taken over from movies. Reckon I'd be lucky to watch 6 movies a year. 1

xylophone Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Looking through the movies on BBC iPlayer, I came across one which I hadn't noticed before, called "Scott of the Antarctic" and it was the original movie made in 1948, but obviously remastered because it was quite remarkable in its picture clarity and colour. On the one hand it showed the courage and grit of the British explorers of the time, yet on the other hand showed the foolishness (hardheaded-ness) of Scott and his team to rely on mechanical tractors and ponies (in the main) whilst Amundsen relied on the hardy dogs, which were used to the harsh conditions. And we know what the outcome was.......however IMO it was still a good watch.

proton Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Miss Austen from the BBC, what a surprise a black cast as a Doctor in 1830, when there were none. The first Dr in the UK who was black was an American in 1837, but that does not stop the BBC lying as usual about our history- the old we were always diverse fantasy. These placements out of time are never Indians or Chinese, always black. 1
