How a simple query turns into an anti Yank thread, by non Yanks of course.  Mind boggling.

Thought this topic might actually be interesting ... but the usual happens.

WTF :coffee1:

Note to self:  why do I bother any more ?

Possibly it was the sneering reference to poms that started it.

And FWIW I do live here.

IMO not a good trade, the USD for making ourselves a nuclear target.

And you would be speaking reasonable Japanese now along with your reasonable Thai  if not for the U.S.

Reasonable trade off IMO.

Well I know this is an Expat forum but most poster don't actually live in Thailand, I do not anymore, I moved back to OZ a few years back as everybody knows. so where you come from?  most posters seem American  posters posting like or dislike Trump but there is more countries in the world so the question is why posting about American problems in every second post?

“most posters seem American  posters posting like or dislike Trump”

The reality is most of the posters you claim are non Americans equal to or greater than the Americans

why not?

Then your point of asking a member WHY he has not become a Thai citizen is pointless, if you can't tell us WHY he should be............😬

Living in Thailand, for over 26 years. No plans to go home. Run businesses, married, two children, 3 cats and 2 dogs as well as an aquarium. Built houses for us, family  and so on. All is so much better here, and will probably just stay that way.

I'm here to entertain you my friend and take your abuse ,it stops you from taking it out on your poor wife or should I say partner

One wonders why you do not use the word partner rather than a gender but that's another story

Let me set your mind at rest. My Thai GF is very very female.

As far as abuse goes, IMO any man who hits a woman is a moral coward.

Partner sort of implies same sex relationship.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is what first made me love Thailand, a nice cheap bungalow at the beach.

Fresh coffe and this view, the sound of waves is indeed a good start.

I just forgot to tell, this is right now, and 6000,- baht pr night.

My illusion of easy and cheap living in Thailand do not exist anymore. Still nice getaway from everything else once and awhile.

I feel very lucky to have experienced Thailand before it got to this point. Soon back to snowy Europe, and have to enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Yep ... first visit, Phuket and the big white tower building at Patong beach, 1999, and a week there (timeshare trade), along with a few days of diving won me over.

Reminded me too much of the Caribbean, without  the season hurricane threat.  Then return 2000, a trip to PP, and I was sold :cheesy:

Now back to 30M+ tourist, and I avoid Phuket 😭 :cheesy:

Agree 100% with this ...

... "I feel very lucky to have experienced Thailand before it got to this point. " ...

Why the pandemic what such a blessing, actually better than 1999, as nobody there during 2020/21/22, and visited more than a couple times, after avoiding for about 10 years :cheesy:

Seems to me that photo is from the bottom up Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon Beaches. I do not see Patong at all.

Unlike some, I didn't restrict my visit to Bangla Rd.  Didn't go there for the P4P, and only visited Bangla Rd one afternoon.   Went to Phuket to explore, recon for retirement, and test out the diving.

Drove around the whole island and hit every beach on the west side, from the airport down around the cape.

I have lived in Thailand the last 12 years full time.  Only left for a few weeks when my dad was dying from cancer.

I like it better here than the US.

I have stayed in Patong only once 1979. Had one road through the town. I took songthaews to the southern end of the island and found the Kata/Karon area which I preferred to Patong even back then. If going to Phuket now I avoid Patong and go via Chalong to the southern end. Saying that have not been in 5 years.

Like you, I reside in Thailand.

Until I moved here - and joined this forum - I had no idea how much Brits and (especially) Australians hate Americans.

I don't know, the Brits and Aussies I meet are friendly enough.

Although maybe they call me a Coke sacker behind my back but I don' t think so.

Also I wonder if the folks who bash Americans on here are friendlier to Americans IRL, which this is not.

There are a plenty of people living in Thailand and posting here, there is pretty good information in specific forums, like the regional or visa related.

Yes, although sometimes when you ask a question the first two posts will tell you what a stupid question it is.

Then the people that know something will contribute useful information.
