Starmer Condemns 'Lies and Misinformation' Over Child Sexual Abuse

It is disingenuous of the Labour government and any posters on here, to say that no further Inquiry is necessary because of the Jay inquiry (IICSA) This issue is now about the hundreds of male Pakistani rape (grooming) gangs, something the IICSA did not focus on specifically, which is what is unquestionably needed.

Labour are happy to see local inquiries, which, by definition, won't address failings at a national level, including the role of the CPS in determining how much effort was put in to prosecuting the gangs.

The Jay inquiry only focused on 6 case study areas, Tower Hamlets, Bristol, Durham, Warwickshire, St Helens, and Swansea.

The inquiry ignored Oxford, Rotherham, Telford, Rochdale, Oldham, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Bradford, Dewsbury, Keighley, Peterborough, etc, etc, etc, etc. Only a new and fully independent inquiry is acceptable, and there is now a burgeoning groundswell of public opinion that will not be satisfied with anything less.

Also, an immediate and separate investigation should be made into the fact that the leader of one of the gangs is still living in Rochdale, close to many of his victims, despite numerous attempts to deport him back to Pakistan.

Richard Tice has said that Reform will be doing their own inquiry, which will be much more effective than some government stitch up job.

Let's hope Musk can put his differences of opinion with Farage to one side and funds it before publishing the findings on X for the whole world to see.

Not even Starmer could bury his head that deep in the sand.

There were at least four separate criminal complaints made against Jimmy Saville but local police officers were unaware of the other complaints due to a failure on centralized intelligence gathering.

We know all of the locations you mentioned have prosecuted this rapist scum. Forgive me while I introduce an unrelated but relevant issue.

There was a thirty-year campaign to nail the police for the one-off events at Hillsborough. The campaign was successful. That was a horrific afternoon in the annals of British history.

Where we are at now is a situation where these rape gangs were already operating when Hillsborough occurred and were allowed to continue for decades. Some say they are still operating today.

If the police were forced to answer for one horrific afternoon, there is no excuse to deny multiple examples of abrogation of duty over the course of decades.

The only reason it's being denied as the number of heads that would roll would rock the foundations of British Civil society. It would not amaze me if thousands of police and civil servants are guilty of criminal conspiracy. It's that bad.

It seems the lies and misinformation are indeed rife.

We've been assailed for days with news of the Tories submitting an amendment to the Second Reading of the Child Welfare and Schools Bill.

The fat lie included has been that the Tories were demanding the Bill include setting up an inquiry into the grooming gangs.

The liars who spread this nonsense have a couple of problems to navigate.

1. Amendments are not added to Second Readings, the vote is passed the bill into law or ‘kill it’.

2. The text of the Tory ‘amendment’ has been published on ‘’X”

The Tories and Reform UK we’re not voting to add an inquiry, they were voting to kill the Child Welfare and Schools Bill.

What bunch of stinking liars:

Oh the outrage.....lol  Who was lying?

The vote was never expected to be won.

Tonight's vote was largely symbolic - aimed at putting pressure on Labour following days of headlines after comments by Elon Musk brought grooming gangs back into the spotlight.

Meanwhile the pressure continues we even have a Labour peer calling for an enquiry and of course Jess Phillips saying she's open to one.

Harman calls for 'mini inquiry' into grooming gangs

Harriet Harman has suggested a "mini inquiry" into issues raised by the grooming gangs scandal and called on Sir Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch to discuss "terms of reference".

The Labour peer told Sky's political editor Beth Rigby on the Electoral Dysfunction podcast podcast that there should "openness" to a future probe as long it does not repeat the previous investigations.

Jess Phillips does not rule out new national inquiry into grooming gangs
A new victims panel is being set up by the government to hear about the abuse by grooming gangs.

I see your on X now....what was it you said about it previously?

Voting against a Parliamentary Bill that provides increased protections for children and lying about it.

Not a good look.

I’m glad I’m not excusing it.

Fortunately Labour have a significant majority and the bill passed its second reading.

Yes labour has a large majority it was not fortunate it wouldn't pass it was an odds on cert..........lol thats why "vote was largely symbolic"

As for the continuing pressure.

Starmer open to U-turn on grooming gangs inquiry, Downing Street says

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/starmer-grooming-gangs-inquiry-badenoch-musk-b2675866.html

That's the headline, the article however:

Sir Keir’s spokesperson said they would “reject” claims it was a U-turn, instead saying the government was pursuing a “victims-first approach”.

How fortunate...........
