Labour leader Keir Starmer is facing mounting pressure to initiate a national inquiry into grooming gangs, following calls from two Labour MPs in two days. Rotherham MP Sarah Champion, known for her decade-long advocacy on abuse issues, has joined the chorus, stating that only a comprehensive investigation into the failures of authorities will restore public faith in the safeguarding systems.

 

Champion's call for action was echoed by Rochdale MP Paul Waugh, who expressed conditional support for an inquiry, emphasizing the importance of victim support and the need to avoid disrupting ongoing police investigations. Their statements have reignited a debate that gained traction last week when billionaire and Donald Trump ally Elon Musk commented on the issue, praising the MPs on his platform, X.

 

Champion, whose constituency has been at the center of grooming gang scandals, declared that child sexual abuse is "endemic" in the UK and must be recognized as a national priority. She highlighted the necessity of understanding the nature of the crime and the systemic failures to protect children, stressing that public trust hinges on addressing these issues comprehensively.

 

Waugh, in an interview with BBC Politics North West, noted his openness to an inquiry but stressed the need for careful consideration of victims' perspectives and the potential trauma they might endure by recounting their experiences repeatedly. He also warned against any inquiry that might interfere with live investigations.

 

The push for an inquiry gained further momentum over the weekend when Labour MP Dan Carden became the first from his party to advocate openly for such a probe. Carden, representing Liverpool, urged Starmer to leverage the full power of the state to ensure justice for the victims, emphasizing the public’s compassion and demand for accountability.

 

Downing Street acknowledged the significance of Champion's stance, given her extensive background in child protection issues. However, the government reiterated its focus on implementing the recommendations from a 2022 report on child sexual abuse rather than launching a new inquiry. It maintained that any action would be guided by the voices of victims and survivors.

 

As the debate intensifies, Starmer faces a critical decision on whether to heed the growing calls within his party and the public for a new inquiry, balancing the need for justice with the sensitivity of ongoing investigations and the impact on victims.

Starmer in a bit of a pickle 😀😀

 

A National Inquiry will see him having to answer questions on how the CPS didn't prosecute in Rochdale. when the man Starmer appointed as the Chief Prosecutor for North West England, Nazir Afzal went ahead and prosecuted.

 

We all know how Rochdale ended up.

 

Capital punishment might have been abolished in the UK. Lets get every single person involved, in cover ups, turning a blind eye, ignoring, or posting social media post that " Those girls should shut their mouths, for the sake of Diversity " banged up for life.

Not to mention limiting the political damage, at local and national level, which such an inquiry would cause.

 

And then there is all that hard work getting the "right" people into positions of power within the Police, Social Agencies, Judiciary and Local Authorities over the last 2 decades. Common Purpose will have been betrayed!

Having watched the 'Post Office' inquiry, I know totally NOT connected, but they go into every email and document sent, I bet there are some 'surprises, secrets ' that Starmer does not want uncovered!

Too many Muslim politicians of Pakistani origins, all members or former members of the Labour Party starting with the mayor of London Sadiq Khan and the former first minister of Scotland Humsa Yousaf.

Why are people now saying "the state" must get involved but kept quiet for 14 years by saying it was up to local authorities?

 

Starmer and labour have to much to hide that's the reason he doesn't want a national inquiry, remember he was running the CPS when this first came out but it was mostly side lined

Another question that needs answered. Why was a Human Rights Lawyer head of the CPS and DPP

Sums up why the UK is in clip, and why there is now a clamour for a National Inquiry.

Starmer trying to dodge two bullets re the rape gangs. The first is a question as to why the CPS showed little interest in this issue during Starmer's tenure. The second is his fear of alienating Muslims and their votes if he now agrees to a national enquiry into how these gangs managed to operate with impunity for so long.u

Starmer won't let there be an inquiry because he was in charge of the CPS at the time (Saville problem too), and if the truth comes out, then he would clearly have to resign... that's why they won't let justice prevail and the truth come out. Rotten to the core, and Starmer is incompetent plus an accessory to these crimes through his inaction.

In 2013 I named the then Labour councillor and deputy leader of Rotherham Council, Jahangir Akhtar. I also named South Yorkshire Police Officer, PC Hassan Ali and my rapist Arshid Hussain in The Times newspaper. 

When I was a child I was abducted by Arshid Hussain, instead of arresting him they made a ‘no prosecution deal’ with him and told him If he returned me to a petrol station they wouldn’t arrest him. 

After I exposed Rotherham Arshid was finally found guilty for my abduction and other crimes and sentenced to 35 years. 

The authorities didn’t just allow these rapists to roam free, they made deals with them.
